I can't afford a Gretsch, but look what I just bought on ebay for $305.00 plus shipping! I'm stoked! It's supposed to an A-low pitch, which means I can play in guitar bands without getting strange looks for calling out B-flat or E-flat or even F. :D

I don't have a problem with flat keys on guitar either, but almost everyone else that I know does! The new horn is a Martin Indiana, purported to be a 1929 model. I can't believe that it's that old; just look at the damn thing! There's not a lot of info out there on tha Indiana. Steve Goodson told me today that he has two of them but that's all I could get out of him. He's still recovering from Katrina. Wait and see.

Now I'm into saxes and trumpets.
Love the skill that went into them.
I just sit and look at 'em.
They are quite complicated bits of machinery.

You would like this. It's a Wurlitzer C melody, about a 1925 model, silver plated with a gold wash on the keys and the inside of the bell. I completely rebuilt it with all new pads and cork but it still doesn't play very well. Nevertheless, it sure is a purdy thang. I like to just sit and look at it.

One of my buddies has a silver plated 1920's trumpet.
That's a beautiful peice of craftmanship too.
    I love old pieces.

Now all it needs is a pickup, preferably hand wound, and a volume pot. Plug it into a Roland Micro Cube, set the amp simulator switch to Classic stack, the gain knob way up, and the volume (post) knob down for some sustain and feedback, then line that baby into the biggest PA system you can find! It'll be just like the movie Back To The Future, when Marty blew himself all the way accross the room and trashed that monster speaker that Doc made! Using a slide should be killer! I like the big heavy brass slide or you could use one that's for a steel guitar. Go for it!
    :D ;)
