This is OT but figured you guys of anyone would have some experience with this.

Are the dickies they sell at walmart the same as anywhere else?
I notice they have a different label and seem to be alot cheaper.

Everything at Walmart is made in China.
    Check the label.

I usually get mine at K Mart or Meijer depending on what state I am in. Different styles may be made different places.

My experience with manufacturing items for Wally's world is, They tell you how much they are will to pay you for your items and from that you have to adjust the manufacturing to make a profit. IE they may be cheaper but they sure are not the same.

I do not work at that company anymore. As a matter of fact no one does. They are Gonzo.

Dickies are Dickies. The cheaper to get them, the better in my books. They look kool, are comfortable and don't cost me a bundle. I use to wear Levi's, now it is dickies all the time. They are just pure comfort to wear. Nothing beats my AC/DC pj bottoms!!!!!!!!!!!!! KNUX!

  10. The only Dickies shirts I've purchased were bought at HotTopic. The tag says Dickies along with the buttons. Go to hottopic.com & order online if you don't have a store close to you. I've got a couple of them shirts & they are really thick material & very stiff. "Yes, I shop at HotTopic & I'm 33, but I tell the girls I'm 27" Carl Hagan

  11. Yes they are different.
We use different materials for our handbags depending on who buys them. If our customer wants to hit a certain price point well then we using cheaper or higher price materials... We use different labels because we do not want the public to think they are items are always changing. A black bag you buy from us at Nordstroms is different from the one on HSN.

I'm not sure about the restof the country, but here in So Cal we have local T-shirt stores, usually run by koreans, that have the BEST DICKIES INVENTORY....big sizes, all the colors, and moderatley priced...Look for them.:D

Hot Topic is the end of Western Civilization!! Why pay twice as much for basically the same thing. I tear mine up to fast. Walmart all the way for me.

Wal-Mart serves a purpose, like it or not. Don't buy my fashion wear there (Dickies or anything else), Kohl's sells Dickies and usually at sale prices. Just got some hooded flannel shirts with quilted lining for $20 (regularly $46). Warm and happy in PA.

I buy used work clothes at the flea markets, like six pair of pants for ten bucks. Same fancy look/already broke in. :O

I have used some of the Flea Market work shirts to print some of my desings on. Most of the time they are Red Kap. I have been told they are the same company as Dickies, but who knows.

I wear Dickies slacks everyday at work. I dig the double-kneed ones with the cell pocket in the leg. I have found these slacks to be the same no matter where you buy them although there is a lot of variance in the slacks themselves. They may have different belt loops or cuffs and have the same item number. They all seem to fit the same and that's what matters to me.

Levis, I dare you to find any that are made in the USA. The last few pairs I bought cost about twice what the Dickies cost and laste dabout half as long.

    That sucks.

If we started this thread yesterday I would have been able to tell you that I've never had a pair of Dickies fail on me but I got a big ole rip in my newest pair today at work. Not the products fault as I hit some jagged aluminum.

There is a big difference in the shirts Wal-mart sells compared to Kohls or wherever else. The Wally shirts are typically less fitted and don't have the double fabric at the shoulders or the pen pocket in the front pocket. I've yet to see any pearl snap shirts at Wal-Mart.

Holy shit, I just realized I'm talking fashion on the HAMB. :D

thrift store for me. dickies are like a good baseball glove. it can take years to properly break it in, but once its broken in, its the most comfortable thing on earth. i say if someone else is willing to do that work for me, more power to em.
i started wearing them when skateboarding mainly because they are nearly indestructable. seriously, you can detonate a grenade in the pocket and they will probably still be intact.
and you just cant beat the Eisenhower jacket for style.

Caught a bit of a PBS documentary on Wal-Mart. The jist of their report was that Wally World wants to have premium brand names in the store to bring in the customers but, as a previous post said, they dictate the price that they are willing to pay. So if the supplier wants to play the game, they gotta cheapen up the product to make a profit (or break even), or sell their normal product at a loss just to get in the door. Then Wally World demands a certain percentage price drop in the ensuing years. So, everyone jumps to China and India to make the products we buy.

So no, the Dickies (or any other name brand product) that you buy at Wally World is not the same that you buy from a more upscale store.
Same goes for Home Depot and other big box stores. HD sells an Ingersol air compressor that looks just like the one I bought from the local tool dealer, except it's beige instead of grey. The same until you start looking at the details...mine has a higher quality motor, full cast iron construction, etc....but the HD version is a couple hundred bucks cheaper......

I saw the PBS thing and yes wal mart is evil but where else is it possible to buy a can of chili a bowl and a microwave blow in your shorts and use the toilet paper from there buy new under wear and some pepto bismol? its like the circle of life.

turns out my conspiracy theory might be true so my conclusion is wal mart dickies are crappier but cheaper but if you dont mind crappy fit and quality they just might be good enough. but this pre owned dickies idea seems to be the cheapest best and comfortable. I like the idea of buying clothes by the bag full. too me as far away from paris hilton and designer crap is a good thing.

Well sonofabitch. I just bought 3 (three) Dickies shirts from WalMart and was super stoked about it. Not my first choice of a place to shop for clothes, but hey, it's Dickies...or at least I thought it was.

As an aside, I despise WalMart. But I've almost got to shop there, I work too often to go to regular stores for silly shit like soda and soap.

I've got at least 10 pairs of Dickies pants/shorts and a few shirts. Some of them came from Wal-Mart, some from other "nicer" stores... Can't tell 'em apart, they all fit the same and are of the same quality, 1/2 are at least 5 years old.

I just got some of these for Christmas, along with some work shirts from Tractor Supply. I think I'm going to pick up a couple more pairs of the Dickies slacks from Meijer.
