OT? What are your other projects?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mpls|cafe|racer, Oct 26, 2006.

  1. Yeah I'm finally getting started...albeit slowly...gotta pick up a few more pieces this weekend and then start the big dis-***embly:eek: If I have any luck it'll be at the pileup next year.

  2. No other automotive projects other than tracking down vintage cars and stripping them for resale.Would you believe I bottle dig and metal detect in my spare time when I can. Before you laugh and say what the **** get this....I sold a dug bottle for $1,573.00 and two old trade axes for $500.00. Two grand buys alot of cool ****!

I collect and work on Vespas and Lambrettas.

I go to about 10 scooter rallies a year. While there, I shoot a ton of photos.

I'm also deep in restorating/remodeling my 1922 house.

    Here's the "after" shot of my last project. Worked on it for over three years;

And my latest project, a mighty 160cc Ducati. Since this was taken I've added a valanced rear fender and started painting it:

After this one there's a 250 Ducati Monza I plan on making into a track toy. I've got a soft spot for the Italian stuff...

Everything I buy is a project. My most pressing one is getting a van toghether for my service truck. I'm getting a freebie Astro cargo van (it is just a shell),that I plan on swapping a V-8 into. After that I plan on redoing the rear suspension on my air bagged 84 GMC. I also want to redo how my wifes truck was lowered. My wife has told me that my next project is my extra bedroom. I have car magazines in every corner of the house, so she wants me to build book shelves in the extra room. Covering two walls floor to ceiling.

wouldn't give a nickel for another. Not much time between Volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball. usually get about 30 days off in the late summer, when its 110 degrees with 99% humidity. I just keep reminding myself that the kids will be gone sometime and
then can support my activities. yea rite!

Right now I'm focusing on finishing the house I built. Interior trim work is all that's left. Then get my '61 F100 swb on the road, then my Jeep. Then my model A. Also doing a resto mod to my '71 F250 hiboy, finish my wood shop, back to the next phase of my '61 F100 and a bunch of other **** like build furniture etc. Damn, why did I post here, this is depressing!

Mechanically prepping my '70s Gremlin bodied DIRT modified for the '07 season of racing with two vintage circle track clubs. It was restored as a display car but needs quite a bit of this and that to actually be raceable. In fact, the Gremmie is the project at the moment. My '64 Ford, '37 Chevy circle burner and an off-topic '79 T-Bird mild custom project that I've owned for many years are on the back burner until this car is done.

Metalshapes, what kind of car is the red on in this pic? I know where one like it is and thought it could make for a KooL lookin' altered.

I know it's frowned on upon here, but I bought back the ride I had in H.S. 10 years after I originally sold it. I have been slowly putting it back into the condition it was in when it first left me. I bought this car the first time back in 1990-91, and sold it in 1994. Call it "sentimental value":

    Royalshifter, I'll 2nd that...

Though I'm finally finished working my carbs, linkage and 2x4 Offy manifold over for the 396 in my Impala. And am in the middle of semi-restoring a pair of 16x8.5 Torq-Thrust look-a-likes. Had the lips polished, painted the spokes "cast-iron grey" and put a set of new old stock ET center caps on 'em. Working on the matching 15x6 pair right now....

I dont realy have any other projects right now. Overhauling my Poncho is realy all i want to try to do right now. Although i guess you could call keeping my vintage Isuzu daily driver going a project. Theres always something minor that could stand to be fixed with that guy...

    Art.

and school. Back in college (LMC) in the welding program. Taking the theory cl***es too. Learning from a couple old guys that have probably forgotten more about welding than I'll ever learn. Luckily they still know enough to teach. :D

At least my welds look a lot better now... but still a LONNNNG way to go.
