Howdy! I've been enjoying this site for quite some time and now it's time to become a contributor. Just this weekend I picked up my first project, '63 Fairlane 500 Ranch Wagon: I'm giving myself two years to get it back on the road. It needs floor pans, drive train, and one of back side gl*** replaced. I intend this project to not only give me a cool car to drive around, but also be a learning step for me to learn the ropes of building a car, have my two-year old son help me as he can, and hopefully develop an interest in him so we can get a car for him and let him put some sweat equity into it and that be the car he gets when he turns 16. I want it to be a bonding/learing process. At least that's what I hope, he might not enjoy cars like I do, and that's OK. If he does, bonus! This community has been a great source of information and know-how and I feel like I'm miles ahead for what I want my car to be and how to get it there. My thanks to the HAMB and to everyone who makes it what it is.
Congrats on the new project! My twin sons have been around me working on old cars (and old Broncos at first) since they were born. They really took an interest in the Fairlane project, which I got when they were about 6 and still have today. Now, they are quickly headed toward 13 and want to start their own projects next summer so they will be built and ready to drive when they are 16. The whole process makes for some great family bonding. So, are you gonna keep that Ghostbusters theme on the new build?
No, unfortunately not. Suprising though, it's the one thing about the car my wife has not said. She thinks my car is going to give her car 'germs'. I'll remember the naysayers when they want a ride!
