The 2023 out of Site drags has quickly become a must attend event. It's held at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wisconsin. It has strict requirements on the type of cars that can attend. Only pre 66 and older cars are allowed on the track. Strict rules on appearance are upheld. No billet. No big ugly scoops. No modern wheels etc. Car counts are 200 plus. One of this years life time achievement recipients is Stan Johnson. Stan's Silver Bullet dragster will be on display. This car won the world series; set the national record; won best engineered at Indy. Stan will be on site to sign autographs. Several other honorees will be at the track with their cars. This is a do not miss event. Did I mention a rocket go kart. Yah that will be there to making passes.
Another Honore is Bernie Adam's. Bernie ran a few 409 super stocks then moved to funny cars. Bernie will be onsite for pictures and autographs. He will have his collection of memorabilia on hand for all to see.
Did someone ask hey what about rocket go karts? Yes one will be there. Ki Michaelson will have his go kart there making passes. He is taking it out of his museum for this event. Ki is also being honored for his life time achievements. He still holds the track record at the Grove with a pass of 348 mph in a hydrogen peroxide car. He still owns it.
As in past years there will be several cars doing a nitro cackle. There are a few new guys coming to join the group. Tom Hoovers original dragster; the Doug's Headers Corvair; the Spaggetti Boys Dragster are a few that will be firing up several times a day plus night time flame shows.
If rocket go karts don't do it for you how about rocket roller skates. Ki had a son that ran down the track with a pack of hydrogen peroxide strapped to his back. The son will be displaying his racing gear. Where else are you going to see something like that?
