For those interested here is a link to a photobucket album dedicated to the Coupe's build, lot of pictures most of which haven't been posted http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d79/kingcoolrides/Nathans%20coupe/
Oh yeah, I took them to my engine builders today, he's very big on his Flatheads, he took one look at them and mumbled something along the lines of me being a lucky bastard (he runs a fuel injected and supercharged Flathead aswell!)
Pete, Nathan what are the plans for the weekend, besides a pub lunch and a few pints? More work on the coupe?
Mark, not a lot really. The chassis is ready for the powder coaters, engine and rear axle are at Jims and both of us have stinking colds, so it looks like it might be the rugby and a few beers all round. Pete
as Pete says the powder coaters is next, having seen how clean your whole chassis looked Mark, I'm having the bells, front and rear wishbones and axle powder coated. I always planned to brush paint them due to finances but that went out the window when the engine rebuild and tuning started being discussed! I'm on the lookout for a 40 Ford steering wheel or something as nice and some black faced SW guages. Going to make a start on a temporary seat recovering job and a way to hide a spin on filter inside an old Fram oil filter canister. Things are just going to take a slightly slower pace now that I'm back doing the 9-5....weekends only I'm afraid.
Sorry to hear about the colds Pete, I hope your both well soon, mind you beers and rugby is a good distraction.
Bit of an update for you, the chassis is back from the powder coaters and looks very nice indeed I also called in to see Miles in his new shop in Farnborough, it's starting to look really good and is already equipped with hot and cold running Hobnobs, always a pleasure to visit Jackhammer. Picked up a new Walker rad, aluminium windscreen frame and a whole load of necessities. I stripped the front axle out and together with the front wishbones, is heading off for powder coat on monday. Pete has pie cut and welded the front wishbones hopefully bringing the castor back from 11 degrees to a more user friendly 8. He also welded the new bungs in for the tie rod ends. I'm heading over to "the Forest" today to pay Becky and Kelvin a visit. I bought a new kingpin set from Miles and Kelvin has the reamer for the bushes, so I'm taking the front hubs over (I've told Monique we're going for a drive in the country and stopping for lunch in a riverside pub!)
Looking very good indeed. Can't wait to see it going back together. Must pop over in my A sooner rather than later.
....still working but at a slower pace (nothing major to report) Got the chassis round at the lock up, front axle and wishbones have been powder coated too. Just spraying all the remaining front hubs, tie rods, ubolts etc ready to put the front end together. Oiling floor panels with Danish oil. I've got a lead on a Supra propshaft and still have a few items on the shopping list to get. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
Took a quick trip down to Jim's today to collect the rear axle....it looks sexy as hell I just have to wait for a couple of oil seals before being able to fit the rear hubs and wheels. Like British Rail,we're getting there <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
That's the Dogs Bollocks, Cudos on the build very cool , love the chassis , I agree with all the previous comments, I can't believe I missed this. I may get to see it at the Drags this Summer
Cheers guys glad you're enjoying the build up. Steve it will definately be there for the drags, if you spot us come over and say hello, the beer's free and always cold!
Wow! the outsiders are doing some great work. Fantastic! If it's any help, There's a mob in Victoria, Australia that make a new gearbox shifter housing casting thingy that moves the gearstick further forward on those toyota Five Speeds. Castlemaine Rod Shop. You seem to be able to find all the best looking bits for your coupe anyway. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing the photos.
