A while ago I posted an ad looking for a speedometer for my '54 Ranch Wagon. I immediately got a scam PM telling me to email someone who had "what I was looking for". Of course I ignored it and immediately reported it. But I also got a PM from Alliance Vendor Rusty at Speedometer Service in Colorado Springs. He had a NOS unit plus a face plate in good condition. He quoted a more than fair price and said he would go through the unit to make sure all was well since it had been sitting for a while. We agreed not to ship it until after the Christmas rush was done. I told him to send me the total amount due with shipping and I'd mail a check. That way he would have plenty of time for the check to clear before mailing the unit. Well today I got a PM telling me the unit was sent without me having sent payment. The cost was as quoted minus the Alliance discount and shipping charges were fair as well. You can't ask for better service. This is what the HAMB is all about. Thanks again Rusty, and the check is in the mail.
Always gentlemanly to tip the cap for a good vendor, and let everyone know. I certainly keep mental notes when I hear good things for later needs.
With all the scams and poor service discussed here and other places, it is so refreshing to read a post like this. Rusty, I salute you.
Cool on Rusty and cool on you letting folks know. I've done piddle stuff for free and never got a mention.
Rusty is one of the best. I had the privilege of a shop tour when I dropped off a speedo for repair while on the way to Speed Week.
I had that pleasure on here as well with another hamber. Sent me the parts and told me send him the money when the package arrived with his address . Blew me away . Sent him the money and a thank you. Not an everyday thing. A persons word is a bond .
Just a quick follow up. Speedometer arrived today, one day ahead of schedule. Even received a 2021 calendar. And per HAMB rules photos attached as confirmation that it did happen.
And cool on you. There you go, you got a mention. Seriously though, old fashioned respect and values should never be allowed to fade away.
Good to know. My speedo guy and gal are having family issues and I may have to find another place for my GMC guages
It's so great to read such good news, we need to hear more good news reports. Rusty .... Top Shelf Brother!
shit deals are the exception rather than the rule. MOST transactions among us old car guys go exactly like this.
Ditto to all. Great to hear someone doing good for da next guy. If more people thought, acted, and conducted themselves as such, this would be a much better world.
Based on everyone's' positive comments on Rusty's Speedometer Service in Colorado Springs I decided to give him a shot at servicing my 1933 Cadillac LaSalle speedometer. (A full set of matching gauges are going in my 34' Coupe). Rusty told me he spent his Sunday working on my gauge and de-greasing all the internals, re-lubing everything inside, re-set the odometer, changed out a badly warped gasket and cleaned the face and curved glass. His service was Outstanding !!! His communication was Outstanding !!! And his price was Outstanding !!! Thanks Sir for exceeding my expectations.
I too have had a great experience with Rusty, I bought a part he had listed in the classifieds. It arrived well packed, on time and as described. We also talked on the phone for a good bit of time about some related parts I would need when I got farther along in my build. He is very knowledgeable and I will be getting the the rest of the stuff from him when the time comes. Chappy
