Hot Rods Over chopped and channeled cars.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chili Phil, May 22, 2021.

  1. I think it would be fun to see the owners getting in or out of these things. You know the ones I mean. Model A sedans with the tires taller than the roof. My Model A RPU is a tight fit and it’s not channeled. The owners must be contortionists.

I can't drive anything chopped/channeled any more. I can't bend due to back and knee injuries. I laugh at myself because I know how funny I look when I do get in or out and takes me a good minute to get out. And to climb in and out of a T-Bucket? Forget it!
Had to get rid of my off topic German made car because of it.

I traded my old Sedan Deliv. to Hamtown Al for one of his 36 Cabriolets...for exactly that reason. When I built it, I weighed 25 lb less and I was 12 years younger...I just didn't fit anymore.:(

At shows/cruises I've been around a few of these cartoon type cars interesting to see how the owner gets in or out of the car and have been amazed, some of these guys are big fat guys, usually younger or a smaller guy that is still very flexible. I'm sure these guys don't drive this type very far but if a young man maybe. I had a 29 HighBoy Roadster when I was in my 50's that was a kool small car, I went to all the big shows in the Midwest but hauled it there in an enclosed trailer as that car had a 75/100 mile limit of sitting in it for me, I still put 20,000 miles on it in 8 years. Since then I've had cars I can drive anywhere I want to go, Uncle arthritis resides with me for many years now. I am a guy that believes "You got to drive them" received big time harassment from my friends, (side note, group of 12 guys, 1 trailer, within 4/5 years 10/12 guys, 6 trailers, now 4/6 guys left, age, attrition is a bitch) At motels for the big shows, trailers everywhere, what cars are in these trailers ? cars like mine or the cool hard hitting race car type that can't be driven down the road very far. To each their own I say, I appreciate all the diversity in our great car hobby, cars and the people, it's what makes it so interesting IMO.

  6. A buddy of mine built an A sedan.
Spent a bunch of time and bold sweat and tears on it. Looked great. Past the test drives he took it out and drove it once. Sold it
