I am wanting to put an R-10 Overdrive in the 1953 Plymouth Suburban I am restoring and have access to a 1949 Dodge parts car with an overdrive. Will it fit/work like one from a 1953 Plymouth? If not does anyone have the correct one for sale? I'm in eastern Iowa. Thanks for the help.

R-10 is a Borg Warner OD. Is the trans in the 49 and 53 the same?
If both are the same trans it should fit. If both trans are the same the 49 should bolt up to the bell housing of the 53.
    Am I wrong?

Is the Dodge a Fluid Drive? The basic Fluid Drive used a conventional 3 speed trans behind a fluid coupling and manual clutch. If so, that trans may work as it likely will have the shorter input shaft required by your Plymouth. The input shaft length is the primary difference between '40's & '50's Dodge/Plymouth trans until '55 models when they were all the shorter version of the two lengths..

theres probably a forum somewhere for people restoring Plymouths and Dodges.
You might have better luck there
This forum is for traditional hotrods which were almost always Fords
