I've been lurking around the JJ site for awhile taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge. I have taken the advice of members regarding things from TIG welders to compression ratios and quench areas. My interests are vintage hot rods and nostalgia drag races. I know I wasn't asked but my current projects include 60's vintage C10 Chevy, Nova/Chevy II, FED, and a HAMB dragster. I'll post build threads when I have more progress to show. Once upon a time I thought I needed to install every modern feature in my 50 year-old vehicles. Jalopy Journal saved my life by showing me a culture of people who enjoy vintage vehicles and respect their contributions. Now I have my mind right. It's more about period correctness and embracing my heritage... Thank-you, Roy
Hi & welcome from Texas. Having one's mind right on period or traditional correct really makes a great ride. My little 46 Chevy Coup falls into the style of how we did them when I was a teenager in the 50's. It looks relatively original until the hood opens and that shows the later inline 235 cubic engine 6 with dual carbs, headers & a bunch of chrome. I am more into "period correct" but not "everything original OEM". I take it to most of the local shows for a good opportunity to visit with others with similar interests. The public really loves the car but the judges don't seem to understand period correctness and judge highly on the cars with the big blocks and highly modified suspension & interiors. That's ok & I just accept that none of these shows actually have a cl*** that my car really fits into. With the modified 6 cylinder it does not fit into cl***es like original, original restored, and does not have near enough engine or customized body or interior to score well in street rod. I accepted this side of the car culture at local shows & have fun anyway & just use the local shows as a great opportunity to visit.. For me it is more cruises & lots of Hwy driving & having a ball doing that. Post pic's as you get into your builds. Jimmie
Welcome on board man, always good to have another brother in the group. definitely post pics of your projects. HAMBER's are kind of nosey that way in a good way.
