overheat

    Hi evryone, happy easter to all.
    I need a little help here with a overheat flathead , this is the second time happen, i change the head gasket first time and now look like is the same just a little diferent , I have oil come out the axhaust :confused: now
    A good friend of my try to help me in evrything he know, but we are with ???? :eek: in ours brains.

    Sounds like you may have done some damage when it overheated. Get a compression tester and check your compression on all the cylinders. You should have less than 10% variance between cylinders.

    Just a note, when you do compression test, throttle should be wide open. Pull the coil wire off before also.

    Compression rings can break for sure when they get too hot. Hopefully no cracks in the valve pockets.

    I"ve heard rumors that flatheads can crack the block. When you had the head off did you take a close look around the cylinders for small cracks.

    thank you all for you help , so far nothing is crack just the gasket in the same spot the old one was broken, the head is in good shape but am looking for a maching shop in concord or kanapolis if anyone know some one let me know , and tank yopu for evrything
