Does anyone know who has oversized Ford door hinge pins for, let's say, a '32?? I have a set of hinges that are kind of wallered out. If I can just drill the holes out a size larger and pound some new pins in it would help greatly....and I don't have a lathe to make new ones.

    Thanks in Advance!

  2. Get yourself some stainless 5/16" bolts and nylocks.
Jig the hinge up in a drill press and drill the holes to 5/16".

You may want to 'drill' with a 5/16" end mill if there's a chance of the drill wandering due to excessively wallered out holes, but probably not.
A drill usually works just fine.

I used hex heads - in stock at the time - and lathe cut a depression in the hex as well as thinned the hex a bit for decorative purposes.

You can cut the hex nylock a little thinner or if you can find them, use stainless nylock jam-type nuts.
They ain't too hard to find.

Cut the bolt length so there's a thread to a thread and a half out of the nylock.

You don't have to tighten the heck out of them, just get em snug so the door swings easy.

Mine are still working fine 15 years and 49,000 miles down the road.

A button head allen would work even better.
And . . . if you have a dark colored car, black oxide button heads are easy to find.

Hard to see in the pic, but here's the stainless bolt/hinges in my 32.

  3. I thought the easier solution was to install brass bushings and them ream them out to accept standard size pins? Of course, no one said we wanted to do things the easy way.

I tried searching online but all I came up with from Mac's were whole hinges. I called them and they have the ovesized pins but they are like 11/32 diamater, that ain't gonna leave much meat left on the hinge. I may try your idea C9. I am trying to avoid taking the hinges off of the body/doors because the bolts are pretty rusted in them and I don't really care what the finished product is gonna look like.

Try your Chevy dealer......Chevy PU hinge pins/bushings are cheap and may be the right diameter (depending on model), just need shortened. Oversizes are availale too.....
