    ok, that make sense for silver because of the lower btu factor so it doesnt get as hot.

    I know not why but you can get cracking problems hammering TIG welded aluminium that you don't with OA. Gas tanks cracking in jet boats became such a problem here in the 80s they banned TIG for a while.

    Hopefully your employer is not using web pages to decide which eyewear to issue to the weldors :)
