The quickchange is an early Franklin v8, it's all steel, not aluminum. I bought it years ago from Bob Bleed. I've been gathering all the parts for this thing for about 6 years now. And the front shocks are upside down 50's MG/Austin healy, but it looks like were going to have to drill for a bleed off screw in the top to eliminate any air bubbles in the valve since were running them upside down. So if your gonna run them on a rod, I suggest right side up. Drew Piestch's modified roadster uses those shocks and he says they work great. I'll look for a picture.
Unreal. As it set's it's a Magazine feature. With paint and running a Cover car many time's over. The writer's and pho-tog. boy's of the HAMB should be all over this work of retro art. Done at home? Even sweeter. Congradulation's on such a fine recreation of the time's of old.
Wayno, Glad to hear your working on it. Doing a smaller one first is a good idea. Drew and I both built soapbox derby tanks a couple years ago. Check them out.
Homo... Your a HAMB Rock Star Now Kid!!! Round Up...Get a Ticket!!! Let's go!! I got a room Biiiiatch!! evel
Thats going to be sweet. I think that would be the first tanker i have seen with a 4 in it . kustomriv
The engine is going to be full race... Rutherford OHV head 5 main crank and girdle etc. Wow! Great work, man...Glad you're running a banger in it (my favorite), and the Rutherford head is the capper (so to speak)! Thanks for building this thing and sharing it with us...
Drew came by the other night, I am glad to see new pics of it. if you make him work an extra day a week, it will get done twice as fast! travis
Not to steal your thunder, but rather, in an effort to 'up the anti' a bit and encouragement, here's some photo's of a friends tanker, and also the engine used in another car to which he is involved. We will be at B'ville, hunt us down as we'd love to talk..... Cheers, and keep at it, Drewfus.
Right on.. Is Wayne gonna ship it overseas? Nothin like a little healthy compe***ion to get motivated.
way to make me wish i had room to start on mine! heres a pic of my tank mocked up in the driveway when i brought it home yours looks great, keep up the good work zach
Currently no plans to ship it over as the costs are m***ive (ie more than the car cost in the first place)....... Anyhow, I trust the pics inspire you to get crack'n...... looking forward to August so we can see how you guys do it..... ;-) Cheers, Drewfus
Dam'n Gordon, you stole my thunder. I was gonna recemmend you before you did it yourself! Your the man!
This is why I love the HAMB. I got some really great parts this week and one of them was a belly tank for $50. I was thinking that I have no idea how one of these goes together (ch***is), come home tonight, do a quick search and find some great information. Can't wait to see more! Mine is gonna get hung on the ceiling for a while till I get the parts and dough to do it.
is this a real p-38 tank? do you have any pictures of just the tank? or maybe of the rear end of it? how about a measurement horizontally across the widest point? im trying to identify mine....but not a big deal if its too much trouble thanks zach
The Tank is looking killer Bobbie. Let me know when you paint it I can mix you up something really special for it!!
