Hello All, I am posting this because I dont want any of these cars to go to waste and I do not have the means to get any myself so I figured I would p*** this along to everyone on the HAMB. I do not know the guy personally and I am not recieving any commision or anything. Heres a little back story of what I know, When I was up in Pa. attending Wyotech I became friends with a guy that lives close to York, Pa One weekend we went to Carlisle for the swap meet, later in the day he told me about this junkyard that has been there since before he could remember. I asked if it was open and he said no, hasnt been for years. So we drive over so he can show me and my jaw just dropped, the place occupys like two small city blocks right in the middle of town, it was all overgrown with a 6 foot privacy fence all around and goats roaming inside . We looked for a while through the cracks in the fence and left. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I have been back in Florida for almost three years and every time Italk to him I ask "whats the deal with the yard?" well this time he said actually the owner has untill the end of the year to get everything out or its ALL getting crushed. So here Iam telling all you guys all of what I know, the cars might not be the greatest but there is alot of good stuff still worth saving.
here is the website that has been set up has contact info
Good luck and if anyone has been or goes let us know prices and of anything interesting please

This thread is about an old junkyard that has not been open as of any time recent, that is being cleaned out by the end of the year. I posted to let anyone interested know. That is all, I get no commision nor do I know the guy I have just seen what is in there and wanted to p*** along

As I recall, there are, or were, several old Buicks in the front that always interested me. I didn't realize it was as big as you say. I thought it was just the small overgrown yard that visible next to the fuel oil place.

I can attest to the fact that the junk yard is there, I grew up in Hanover, PA in the 50s and 60s and it seems that yunk yard was there even back then.

Clark and the So-What guys should know about it.

PS - didn't know the hubby was posting at the same time,,,his and her computers, both on the HAMB on a Saturday morning !

We were just in Hanover last weekend, had we known we would have attempted to have a look and perhaps take some pictures.

before everyone gets their ******* in a bunch and heads off to hanover, lets realize this info is 3rd person,

CLARK and 90% of the so-what crew, live within a stones throw from that place..

additionally there are 3 "street rod" clubs in the hanover area alone.. its a hot rod town.. this isnt some secret "find" and I am sure that if this info is valid photos will be provided..

now back to our regularly scheduled BS

If only I had a 10 car trailer it would be worth the trip. I have told myself no more cross country trips for parts/cars!

No one said this was a "Secret Find". I simply said that the yard was being cleared out and that it has to be done by the end of the year. You can look at the website and see that there are plenty of cars and parts there. I also have a list of cars there, that my buddy e mailed me but it is to long to cut and paste.

damn why do I look through the pics and think... how stupid is this guy?

I saw several cars that would bring plenty more than s**** price..

Oval window bug, T1 VW 21 or 23 window bus, '67 camaro.. and many others..

I've been by the yard countless times and stopped peering through the fence. The guy is real looney. Hasn't been open for years....makes up a sob story that they couldn't sell because of no junkyard license. Well he missused his license recently and lost it....now they have to sell out. I guess it's a good thing he lost his license cause he wouldn't sell anything before.

What's going on now....he's still looney. He's holding a so to speak auction. You can put your "bid" in and if nobody comes by with a better offer he will sell you the car. Problem is he's already not gone by his rules...selling cars and not calling people back. Other problem is getting the cars out. You have to rent a crane to get most of them out.

Most of the cars are picked over...convertables don't have top bows or window frames. Then the bodies are rusted really bad...almost unsavable.

They all have to be gone by the end of the year so I'll make a trip out in November and see what is really happening. So far not much has sold and he has run people out of the yard because he is crazy.

Man, I'd be pretty careful bidding and/or plunking money on the barrel head when there are legal issues here. My friend who has his own junkyard (and a 392 Imp, I might add) THOUGHT he'd bought a Hemi core at an auction of a junkyard that that had closed down. When it came down to guys hauling away what they'd bought in the auction, the sheriffs wouldn't let anything leave because there was legal action against the owner of the yard. And NO money was refunded. That was a couple of years ago, and my friend was (and is) out $500.

    Sounds like the story we've heard before;
Nutcase hoard owner always wanted prices above current market through the years and was an *** to deal with. Now the cars are rusted beyond belief/s****, and only good for some parts.
As mentioned; be careful if he's running the auction himself and is also having legal issues. Transactions should be cash in his hand once the car is on your trailer.

I WAS heading up there today; checked this thread to see if any pics or first-person accounts were up.

Glad I didn't waste my time. Sometimes things ARE too good to be true.

Thanks to those who posted up; especially to those who called bull*hit.

The photos crack me up. They remind me of the photos young children take when they get their hands on a camera.
