Does anybody run a Pacer front end on any of their cars? If so where in the hell is a good place to get Pacer brake, steering & suspension parts? BYC
I researched this a year or so ago. Apparently the Pacer front was THE swap before the MII came along. Am sure there is more to this, pro and con, but this was the brunt of the info that I received. Now, if you are set on this, I know of a couple of Pacers in a local yard near me.....
This is on a buddys 56 chevy p/u thats already done...He mainly looking fo brand new parts for rebuilding the calipers, pads, bleeders & banjo bolts, ball joints... BYC
I run one one my '56 ford pick-up, and it works very well. As I'm sure your friend is well aware of, parts are a fugger to find. You should be able to get most parts through autozone, checker, etc. I had a hell of a time finding rack bellows for mine, but eventuallay they were able to get the right ones. Ball joints, shocks, calipers etc, should be easy. As for banjo bolts, he might be S.O.L., but maybe look at other AMC stuff or mopar stuff. If worse comes to worse, I have a complete spare front end under the work bench in case of emergencies like this.
The problem with getting new parts, calipers, brakes, etc for this configuration will be finding a parts house weinie that knows what an AMC is, or knows how to look something up in a book. I have NO problems getting parts for my AMC's. This link has some reference #'s, not sure how accurate but is a start: http://home.hiwaay.net/~hoag/pacer_parts.html
I recently bought brakepads and tie rods and Rack and Pinion at O'Riellys auto parts. I have on another car used a 75 camaro front [brake hose ]instead of the stock frt pacers-hoses..
