packard tailight question

so Iam a dumbshit, thats nothing new, can anyone tell me if these tailights are one in the same?
are the smaller ones on the black 54 just a cut down version of the larger lights on the red vert ?

They are the same, the red did use the back-up lights as well, the black did not. Nice cars both.

 

both of those cars are kickass by the way. anyone know if they re-pop those taillights? re-pop meaning aftermarket.

There was someone repopping the whole****embly at one point but folded on it pretty quick. You can get the lenses but the housings run pretty steep. I've watched them go for big bucks on eBay. Someone please prove me wrong and find someone repopping them...

 

you can get the lenses from www.thenightprowlers.com as far as housings go i don't know of anyone repoping them anymore. if a man wanted to make a killing repoping them would be a good way of doing so. it's amazing that no one does. there was a set of housings on ebay a week or so ago never checked to see the ending. you can use the lense and make a housing to slightly french them in this looks good also. the guy i worked with right out of highschool and i did so on a chevy 12 years ago. a bit of metal work but it looked good as we only slightly recessed them...ken....

 

The lense are $120.00 a pair. There is a set on ebay now. Can't remember where I seen them now. I know where a set is complete for $450.00 If interested. I would do as some have said and slightly french them and just buy the lense. TP

 

there's a complete set of '56 Packard lights on ebay right now. the current bid is $510. and there's 5 days left on the item. sounds like the seller knows he can get a ton of money for N.O.S lights.

I have a set I got from fellow HAMB'er "Dat Dirty Rat" just a few weeks ago. (lenes,bezel,and 1/4 panle sections).

so did someone just cut off the bottom off the bezels? ( back-up lamps ) on the black car?

I also like the look of stock tailights frenched with lees lenes.
so here is another question, when you french the stock tailight, you don't use the pot metal bezel do you?
I think it would crack, have any of you guys made a sheet metal bezel?

You can try calling Kanter's there in booton N.J. they have alot of Packard parts for sale...I know they make the lense's
in re-pro's dont know about the whole tailight housing,but i think they might sell them to you used though..
