Oops... Sorry Mark - I guess that I should have looked at who was bidding before I posted anything on here... Good luck man!

No I think that you are wrong - this is different. This is a piece of history.
I thought that it was really cool when I came across it and I know that there are many Roth fans out here (especially Mr. Moriarity) that would be interested in seeing it. Whether it was on ebay or not...

I think a simple PM would have worked here.

if it was good you would offer it straight to the hamb before you post it on ebay. not pimping something that is out on ebay here.....

If youi were selling your car, and didn't offer it here first, BEFORE you put it on e-bay, you would be a scumbag. Oh. Nevermind......

Skumbag: Ebay links are specifically prohibited from the HAMB Classifieds.

Posting them on the Main board would be a risky move,
especially if it's your own auction.

even if the intetion is cool i mean poiting out something for someone,
and for other people checking out a cool historic item
the item gets more exposed and might let someone on here loose the auction, or heck might even let a hamber see and win an auction but seems more to fook up peoples auctions then help, so pm directly to someone who might be intrested is better... personally i have (probally) lost several auctions on ebay because the items was exposed here

Yeah, that's how I missed the Joe Barnett touring. Good for the seller, but a real bummer when your dream car has moved on without you.

I know it's great that the story I discovered and wrote was important enough that it made him buy the car and for George to get the motivation after 30-plus years to make the car driveable- just feels like shooting yourself in the foot when I was in love with the car before one word was ever printed and TRJ (and the rest of the world) knew nothing about Joe Barnett and his '27 T Touring.

  17. does anyone really think posting a ebay item on here results in a hamber not winning posted item? i don't care who is watching or bidding ,at anytime any item ,someone in the world will be watching or waiting to bid on any item ,posted here or not,
RYAN posted "that ebay items posted on the main board are ok ",they result in information and items being discussed or even more info being brought to light about a items posting on ebay , read EBAY and the buyer section, if you want it, bid enough to be the winner, ,there is no magical hamber section ,that some how ,keeps items from being shown to anyone but the person wanting to win the item,

  18. No. There are wealthy collectors out there who have caught on to the HAMB as a resource for finding traditional show cars and rods. Don't believe me? Come on up to Seattle some time and I'll introduce you to three of these gentleman and walk you through not one, not two, but three shops full of Bailon, Winfield, and drag cars scored due to some yokel posting the link here.

Yes, someone is watching these coveted items somewhere...but those someones usually aren't multi-millionairs who can outbid most of us on a whim.

Make no mistake folks, this site is no little ho-hum, "my little community" thing. A lot of use would like for it to be...but it's not.

id be happier than shit if some rich dude put my pile into his collection...

the pile will be found when his estate gets auctioned off and ill be some old timer... TRJ will do a 4 page spread on me and my wild ways and the Greezers of tommorow will worship me.

my undies will sell on EBAY for thousands. bring it!

All that I can say is "Yep" to the above........Thanks

  23. This thread is getting gay, so this is the last thing I'll post. Those wealthy folks I spoke of: why would they waste their time perusing EBay when they can come here and find links to the historic cars they're seeking w/ no work? It's commonly known as "efficient information gathering." Of course I wouldn't know anything about that...other than it being what I do for a living :) Furthermore, they've been doing this for years. Granted, it was through people (finders fees) rather than the internet, but we're making it easy and free for them.

And yes, each of the mult-millionaires I spoke of did come to be rich by following others, but that's a story for another day.
