I am curious if you can relocate the oil filter by turning the pump housing around.

See the problem is that the screw part of the oil filter mounting is directly on the front cross member.

Any solutions other than cutting the frame?

I left mine in the stock position, I don't know if you can turn it around. It actually ended up wearing a hole in the filter because it touched under torque. Solution was a Ford truck oil filter that isn't quite so big around.

You could use an oil filter relocation kit too. You can buy them from summit.

I need to turn the spout around. It that possible?
It hits the frame. Then I can use a relo kit.

See the picture of your oil pump below.

PS Did you make a new crossmember for the front?

I have a mustang II frame stub from fatman on my car. I'm not sure if you can turn the pump around. I'll do a little research. You could jsut cut away the area in the crossmember and box it in.

I found a kit for external oiling that milodon makes, but I can't tell from their picture if it replaces the oil pump. Something like that may work, but I think you'd be better off modifying your frame so it will fit. Then when you need to replace it, you know you can find one. Just a suggestion and something to think about. Like I said in the other thread, maybe it will work to spin it around, just take it apart and see if you can figure it out. If you can't, maybe post some pics of the way it mounts and someone here can. Hope I helped in some way, I told you it's a ***** to fit the motor in there. [IMG]
