    Thanks for that side view.
Others may be right, - I may be wrong.

Football player Hacksaw Reynolds got his nick name by sawing a car in half with a hacksaw. I believe he wanted to prove to the other players how tough he was.

  4. My dad, (born in 1916) told of dragging home two 1913 Cadillac touring cars, (among many others) cutting up the bodies with an axe, then sawing up the frames into 3' iron with a hacksaw for the local foundry. (Couldn't afford a torch) This took place so he and his dad could buy cattle feed during the deepest part of the depression. Times were tough, a 20 year old car that didn't run wasn't worth much. (Just like today)

  5. I did a lot of that back in my youth too. A neighbor junked cars and took the engines and frames then rolled them in the hollow. I needed money back in the 70's, had a pick up truck, no job and a fire axe. Went in and cut all of those old bodies up into pieces loaded them and hauled them to the scrapper along with all of the old refrigerators, washers, dryers,, water tanks, and pieces laying around. Got me through some tough times.

Pics like that are hard to look at, but at the time they were just old cars, nothing special, and that steel was better used in military manufacturing. Those old cars that gave their all did so to help keep us all from speaking German right now. They also made the ones that did survive that much more special.
