Looks like to me the window surrounds are polished stainless, you wouldn't paint those would you?
By the mid 50's metallics were getting pretty common, especially on the higher end cars.

Is this a do it yourself job? If so I like Nason acrylic enamel with hardner for the price.

I would have no problem inverting the color scheme. Frankly, I am so tired of all the silver to gun metal gray o/t cars out there on the road that I personally won't consider the color gray. I would make the insert gray, if at all, on that car.

Bruce, I used my dash as an example of the colors I was talking about for the body color for your car, not the dash. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. Brian

  9. Brian.I did understand you about the paint question. I was just saying how lucky I was to have a dash in such nice shape. Sorry for the misunderstanding buddy. Bruce.

That black and red that low budget posted is sharp. 2 tone looks good. If youre wanted a grey, medium Silver with black stripe would my vote.

I really like chrysler billet silver metallic, 2014 or so. Has a lot of contrast from light / dark as the sun hits it.

For some reason I cant get into charcoal metallic, its close to black but not, makes me think they wanted a black car but didnt want to commit to it. Just rambling here.

tri tone, metallic medium grey, white roof, and leave the salmon on the sides.
But I am weird when it comes to color choices on large luxie cars. Might be best to ignore me o_O

Very nice car. I do remember 1955 chevy had a grey and salmon color on there cars. That was a cool color combination. MAKE IT YOUR CAR.

If I was doing the job I would paint the white top first, tape it off, paint the red accent, tape it off, and paint the gray.

Reason, you have to do the roof first so you don't mess up the sides leaning over. Paint the accent next because it is less to tape off. Then do the gray last.

Two tone for me. Three colors is too busy.

I like the idea of a three tone. The comment earlier about using original colors is what to do. Think Packard Caribbean.

Paint it black....the accent gray...the top white.
Match the gray to the interior.

I vote for white top . I would do as Rusty O" Toole says paint the top, then paint the accent stripe . Then the body in case it bleeds under the tape you will just have to repaint the accent stripe and not the whole car. Fine line tape works good to prevent bleeding under the tape.

  23. Rusty. Thats the plan.1 reason I am going to do the roof 1st is the car is so big and I still have that sore shoulder and I have also learned to do the roofs 1st because I am not as young as I used to be and not as flexable and have leaned in to paint jobs before too. LOL..I plan on getting the white paint today. Bruce.

Tri color as many have mentioned, but shoot some clear with flake in it over the white roof. Not too much, just enough to make it stand out a bit.
