I know I had touched on this once before...but we are getting closer to where we will have to start paiting something...I am still undecided. Does anyone have pics of roadster color schemes? I have seen some really nice cream colored ones with maroon accents....I think that might be a way to go....I am trying to keep the car looking just pre-war so that may help to figure some ideas. Any help on this would be great.

I like the "flip-flop" of what you mentioned...

...that is, maroon with cream colred accents. Paint the car a deep, dark maroon with cream colored firewall, wheels, possibly grille insert, and cream colored striping/scallops/other accents.

Just a suggestion...I saw such a scheme on a Model A roadster years ago and it just stuck with me...looked right on for an early jalopy!

  4. I had a drawing of a 26 roadster that I did about 8 years ago, Pale yellow (cream) and Oxblood (maroon), but with airplane "wheel pants" on all 4 wheels, track nose and Gee Bee scallops.

I was thinking yesterday about colors for my 46, but it wouldn't work for it.

70s Ford*****erscotch (baby*****) with blood red interior. Dark enough to sorta hide misaligned panels, light enough to hide impatience with the sanding block.

There was a 32 Roadster down here a few years ago, moss green with cream wheels. looked pretty good.

Washington Blue, cream wheels/accents. Tan interior, early hot rods rarely had color coordinated interiors, wasn't a priority.

  6. Seeing as most of the pre-war roadsters in pictures I've seen are black and white. I have to say to be as period correct, to the point of being*****, you have only one choice. Black and white. [IMG] [IMG]

I'd personally go for the original paint color for a '26 roadster (either green or blue, I think) and the stock color options for your wheels. Early guys wanted to go fast and they didn't always bother with a spray job.

On the other hand nothing's wrong with looking nice.

I think Sinner might have a gallon of "panther pink" left over!

A darker blue with red engine and wheels sounds like it may be the ticket. I do like that cream color however....I have seen alot of circle track cars with what appears to be that type of paintjob. Cream and red/maroon/black. Hmmm?

I think you should paint the whole car like a rainbow!

    (to match your rainbow decals)

  11. Pre Gulf War huh ? Pretty tough you could go with 80's pinks and purples, 70's brown, 60's metal flakes, or even 50's blues and greens. [IMG]

  12. Nobody wants to nominate BLACK PRIME??? [IMG] It goes so well with the red wheels! [IMG] And it's also the NEW PASTEL!

Black prime does look good. I am leaning toward something less conventional though...or at least less done....I know I have seen the cars with the cream and maroon and a bit fewer T's in blue but I wanted to get an idea what they would look like in several combo's to get a firm idea of what I wanted.
