As you reach the upper end of the temp range on the activator it is hard to keep the edge wet. Medium activator is 70-80 f. Even 80 f starts to develop issues, high 80's require slow activator and that means the temp on the parts as well as ambient shop temp. I just went through this issue on my truck. Painting is more science than I care to admit...and dammit I'm a mortgage guy not a car painter! I would scuff that paint on the roof with 600 to ensure a mechanical bond, match the activator to your shop and parts temp using a IR thermometer and reshoot the top.
Thanks..If I go to slower activator does it have to be same paint brand??, if I remember they didn't have slower one or they were out
Might work, might not. General rule is to not mix brands to avoid compatibility issues. If the supplier is out of stock at the moment thats telling you something about whats being used by everyone right now. They shouldn't be out of it for long as they'll be letting their regular customers down. Chris
Not these days it doesn't there are massive supply chain issues (like most industries) in the paint and body industry right now especially on the chemical side of things.
You're in Minnestoa, you're going to be in the 60 to 70 mid temp range before you know it! Actually, a day before I do in Wisconsin. lol Larry
