I have two Devilbiss guns (JGA, JGA-502) and one old Binks Model 18 that refuses to die and like them all. Been thinking about getting a gravity feed, what would you all recommend?
I'm starting to paint my truck, can't afford to pay someone. I was in the same boat, needed a gun. I checked out all the reviews, and sure I would like a SATA or Iwata, but couldn't swing it. I bought a HF purple gun cause I heard good things about it, and at $30 it was worth trying it out, getting the swing of painting with an HVLP. I did some panels in SPI epoxy with it. I guess it would work, but I went out and got a Devilbiss Finishline. I shot with that and it was a big difference. I got a nicer fan, and better atomization. I'm sure its not as nice as the SATA, but I was pleased with the result and the price. Biggest thing I found was the CFM. The HF is a borderline LVLP, using 9 CFM at 35-50 PSI. The Devilbiss is 15 CFM, at 23 PSI. I think its much easier to dis***emble, and clean, and easy to regulate.
if u like devilbiss then a gti. if u want a sharpe gun, then their razor gun. if u want sata then a rp 2000/3000 u probably wont like iwata after using a jga or model 18. a little too soft and slow.
i have 2 cheapies gravity hvlp 1.4 for 2k colour, they work good for the price but ive had a few cheapies that just made work and wasted paint. i also have a devilbis primer gun for primer and a iwatta w200 suction gun for acrylic laquer. in cheapies you need a 1.7-2.2 for primer and 1.3-1.5 for 2k colour and probably about 1.7-2.0 for acrylic laquer, look at the cheapies, some look better quality than others, for epoxy primer a cheap 1.7-2.2 should be enough.
Hello all you crazy mofos over here! I was looking for some advice on a paint gun and couldn't keep myself from reading through this whole thread because it was uffin' hilarious! So much love in the air! This is the place for me! Anyway, real brief introduction - was heavily into custom rides for years with a concentration on computer systems installations (my specialty) inside the rides. I am now focused on creating my own custom computers mods, basically customizing them in similar ways that you would a car. Here's an example of something that I'm involved with (this was done by a great modder, a buddy of mine - Bill O.): THE DEUCE After modding and customizing the case, we paint them with automotive color (in this case HOK). I am just starting to paint my cases with spray guns, used to use Plastikote spray cans before. 1. So my question is - I have a NR-95 1.4 tip Sata gun which I haven't used yet and I've seen that its been discontinued and replaced by NR2000. Will I be ok for now with NR95? I've head very positive things about Sata guns, and I am wondering if I should have purchased the 2000 sata instead. Its just that I got a great deal on then NR95 (i hope it was) - $150 for almost new gun. Anyway - if you guys have a minute - would you help me out - and let me know if the NR95 is a good gun to use for me for a while compared to Sata RP and Sata 2000. 2. Also - your thoughts on Devilbiss Finishline, I got the Finishline 3 gun with all 4 tips (1.3, 1.5, 1.8, 2.2) and an air regulator. it was a great deal, I figured its a good startup set. However I've seen through reading reviews and forum posts that they're kind of on the lower level of performance out of spray gun lineup - but maybe I can just use it for primers and sealers? Thanks!
