    Hello,

I need advice on metal flake. We sprayed roth cherrie pie over a red base that was not quite dark enough. In lower light or at a distance it looks great but up close it looks orange with black pepper. We have about 10 coats of clear and do not want to start over.

Can we just keep adding flake until no base is seen?

Should i tint the flake and base then shoot more flake over it?

    Thanks for anyhelp

It already looks like you'll have to cut the seams to get the door open, too much clear on to add any more.

You might want to buy or borrow a paint thickness mil gauge and check the amount of material you have on there already. If you have more than 5 or 6 mil of paint on there you need to sand and buff what you have or start over.

12 mils is what most paint manufacturers suggest as maximum build. After that, they suggest stripping and repainting. Custom jobs can have 20 mils on them. As long as the coats of Clearcoat have had sufficient time between coats; 20 mils is the Max.

  6. Adding flake or going back to flake IS starting over. Starting over on top of 10 coats is wrong and going to cause you troubles
