First let me stress this is not a car that my hubby Darryl Hollenbeck painted, it was done by someone else, and brought to Darryl to fix and repaint. The paint just peeled like vinyl shelf paper. Almost no adhesion.

In this video we ae really pulling the top coat of paint off the car

    I hope this link works

    Enjoy

I seen that before.Seems to me there is a sealer applied on the car.You can see there is no sand scratches on the brown. That might be the problem. This problem is not new.

I think someone forgot to sand......

Or, that car was used in the brinks heist, to be pulled into a parking garage only to emerge a different color, just like a bad 70s TV cop show... :D

That sounds like something that will cause this.Never thought of that. Had this happen 15 years ago. Painted a car and the next day it didn`t look right.Started to pick at it and the same thing happen. We blamed it on the sealer.

Isn't that kind of like the paint jobs that the movie studios do on cars just for a movie or commercial? I worked on a car commercial once in Solvang, Ca. and the car had a paint job somewhat like that! Anybody have more info on that?

Had a guy repair the rear quarter on an OT car,the paint kept bubbling up and peeling off just like that. He insisted that he never had the problem before. I gave the car to a friend to fix when he had the time and he said the other guy used really really cheap filler and sealer.

My thoughts are not sanded and water based paint over solvent base ,The best way to do that car is from the beginning ,I hope the customer realizes this ,Thats not a cheap fix ,One section peeled ,But Im sure youll run into trouble spots....
