Working on a T roadster. The sides of the frame will be exposed. I want the car satin or hot rod black.

I would like to paint the frame with brush/rollers. I do want the sides, rear end, front axle to look decent. I am thinking about Rustoleum satin enamel. I contacted the company and they say not to put any hardner in the paint. I thought the hardner would make the paint more durable. Also the car will not be parked outside and you know driven to cruise ins and shows but I do not want the frame fading out due to UV.

Should I worry about the UV? Is there something better I could apply using a brush and roller?
I plan to have the body, grill shell, and gas tank spray painted by a pro.

  2. If you decide to go with Rustoleum/Tremclad (the Canadian version of Rustoleum) you can add a product called Japan Dryer. It speeds up dry time and helps to harden the paint. 20241007_151859.jpg

I've used a "hot rod black" satin two part urethane and rolled it onto my frame. It has a slightly pebbly texture and looks great.

Look at KBS paint. I had a drip on cement. When I scraped it off the cement came with it.

  5. The hardeners add gloss that is why they recommend not using them with satin paint.

I used Rustoleum black on my frame and the underneath of the car. It has held up well.

I've used Satin Black Rustoleum both on the Studebaker frame as well as the T Roadster. If the car will spend the predominate amount of it's life indoors I wouldn't worry about it. Although I sprayed both frames, later I had to make modifications to both frames and I just brush painted my "fixes" and it looked fine.
