I've got the 58 chev. ,I posted pics of a while back, ready to paint. I'm using PPG DBC 2000 B/C and 2002 clear on the main part of the body. I'm also painting the dash, jams, firewall, and all the interior trim. I don't know wheter to use the DBC and PPG speed clear or the PPG DBI interior color on the firewall jams and trim. The 2002 clear is just too damn expensive to use on the firewall and jams and I think it would be very wastefull on the trim pieces. My mentor at the local body shop suggested th DBI the paint store says use the base and a speed clear. Any ideas? Thanks Will Vaughan
The paint that you are using is way too new and over my head. That being said, I've had a lot better luck following the advice of someone who regularly uses a product over that of someone in the store.
Use the DBC base and clear it with PPG's Omni clear. Chemical and impact resistant as the 2002. Lots cheaper.
I would use the quick clear on everything other than the outer body. Not only is it cheaper, but it saves time.
