It seems there's now a paint resin shortage. Talked to a couple of companies and it's the same story. Some companies are waiting for June 1st to get a drums of resin to make epoxy The price of acetone last month was $0.60 a pound in a 275 gallon tote. It is now $1.60 and still rising. In addition ,all the independent paint companies are disappearing and being bought up by the majors. The new environmental regulations I see coming down the highway is not going to help this situation at all. If you're thinking about buying paint do it now because the prices will definitely will be going up.

A lot of chemicals and petroleum distillates skyrocketing in price. Let's hope this is a temporary setback. :(

  3. One reason is a certified hazmat truck driver shortage. Lots of chemicals sitting at the docks

Oil/gas prices are high, affects everything. Go buy some lumber if you want some sticker shock.
