I know its crazy to paint a car/truck only a year and a half since the last time, but I think I can get it to come out much better this time. Most of my friends think I'm crazy and think I should leave it alone, but screw it they're all wrong:eek:This time will not be as intensive seeing how all the hard work in the body work is done,I just want to get the truck painted a lot more evenly than before.I'llpost a couple of pictures before, during and after.Only three months until round up :DPlenty of time right:confused:This is how it looks now and believe me the picture lies,It needs alot of work.

Not crazy at all. I applaud you for wanting to make it better. Are you gonna go shiny this time? I'd like to see that.

I echo zman. It would be nice see some shiny paint on it. You have a nice clean truck. Keep us posted.

Yes, what color? I dig the truck already, but shiny would be really nice. I was hoping to have some shine on mine by the Round up, but I have officially given up on that (too much body work to do).

Thanks guys.Colorwise it will probably stay between dark charcoal and black with a white cab top most likely. The truck when I got it was a glossy base coat/clear coat paint job and after all the body work and sanding I was out of money and wanted to try flat anyway. So I had a guy here in town mix single stage urethane black with the flattener. It looked right at the shop on a test card ,but when i hardened it and shot it was a lot more shiny than I wanted.Plus I'm no painter and fudged up a few spots on the driver side which led me to try fix them and then screw that side up and now the drivers and p***engers sides are not the same sheen.oops.Its been a year and I've decided to try again. This time I have a good compressor, news gun and hose, its just time to wet sand it down.As far as the finish I'm not sure if it will be gloss or not.I'll think about it this month while I'm sanding:DHere is a pic from the round up a couple off years ago in gloss black

I think that gloss black with a pearl white cab would be sweet. I painted a harley softail with 98 Cadillac pearl white.3 stage and expensive but looked great when the sun hit it. Good luck and post some pics.

yeah, that short bed is cool...

javier, your truck already looks pretty bad ***. nothing wrong with wanting to make it better though. i do think you should do it shiny if you take the time to do it again.
    either way, cool truck.

Its good to know I'm not the only one who is going to spend the next month sanding a truck for a new coat of paint. Can't wait to see the outcome. Good luck!

Man that glossy pic looks good. The body looks like its close enough for it with a little bit of elbow grease. 3 mos is plenty of time! Do it up!

Gloss for sure. After doing all the work of sanding it nice and straight why would you want it to look half finished.

I agreee . It looks good both ways but the glossy really shows off the body lines alot and well, since i really like these fords I like glossy.

but shiny is cl***ier than flat or semi gloss, and a lot cl***ier at that. And I'm tired of seeing flat Cadillacs, that's just retarded.

This is not the Glossy or Flat paint opinion thread by the way:D.The good news is by the end of this week I'll have everything off the truck and start wet sanding.Once its sanded Ill post before and after pics. Then primer is next.Paint whether glossy or suede all depends, but I'm leaning towards glossy.thanks for all the support.
