Just thought I should let everyone know ,the warnings you hear about paint products and supplies that seem to far out do happen. Ive heard about static starting fires Ive delt with static at the shop but for the first time Ive seen it be a problem . I blew the dust off a hood for a 2010 caravan then went to wipe it off with wax and greese remover as soon as i got close to it I got a poke....... before I could think "SHIT" I heard the poof then shit turned into fuck . the hood was in flames , everything turned out ok the hood wasnt warped ,I didnt burn down the shop and Im ok (minus some arm hair) I paint all day ,have for years never had a problem like this (but have heard of it and never worried) just hope this can help someone out I never thought that things I heard could happen would happen to me . Coulda been worse ,It wasnt for me hope this helps make it not happen for you

    I never heard of that.

Glad you are OK and you did not lose the shop. If the can caught fire, the natural reaction would be to drop it ! Then a fireball..

  4. I always put a grounding strap from the frame to the floor for just that reason.

  11. First- glad your ok,and everything(including yourself) survived. Shit happens......Learn from things(as we all do),and chalk it up.
Ever see a powder coat flash where theres a fireball?
Ever see linseed oiled rags suddenly self combust?
Both of those are good times indeed.

Point is= Your ok,and your more aware.
Hey- Your here to tell us about the "WTF" stuff.

We all go through it,and it makes us (some of us ) smarter.
    Keep on Keeppin' on.........:)

I work in a nice shop ,the owner gets us whatever we need to get the job done and safty stuff there is never a question on . Ive seen cardboard paint booths on here and alot of us do work at home it worried me that at home the flames rolling across the ceiling till the wax and greese remover burned off would have been alot different at home or at home for someone else. Been doing this 18 years never seen anything like it , I guess once I was grinding and the sparks were goin into a trash can full of paper towels:rolleyes:but we all expect that to go bad I just wasnt payin attention:eek:

Wow, thanks for the heads up

I wonder if low humidity might have also played a role?

Low humidity definetly plays a role. Also, I never use my cell while refueling. Same shit turning to fuck, ya know?
