Hot Rods Painted Windshield Frames

Have a deuce roadster. Came with So Cal frame a painted brass windshield. Would like to chrome it but low on cash. Show me your frames

I'm in on this one, I'm so undecided I still haven't bought a winshield yet. Mike

 

I painted my windshield frame a newer Nissan Mettalic Silver color. It was really pitted and It wouldve taken me forever to repair the rust out and metal finish it well enough for chrome, so I cut out and repaired the rusted areas and had it painted. Really happy with how it turned out.

I have stainless paint that I use on stuff that should be chromed but either cash, time or condition gets in the way. Its called untra last 566 but it comes in a myriad of names and companies. You can get it where ever they sell refrigeration service supplies.

I sorry I don't have any pics. I like the way it comes out; it doesn't reflect like chrome but really doen't resemble paint either. It reminds me of polished aluminum.

 

I'm thinking about using the aluminum w/s posts from Speedway, and painting the frame silver. But then, I also considered chrome powder coat too.
I still can't decide.

 

Sorry to say I think you should bite the bullet and go for the chrome frame, nothing looks better than real chrome, it is the first thing that catches your eye on the car. I just did the same thing and it was the best decision i could have made.
