I did using common acrylic lacquer over a primered base.
BTW, I had no rear mildings, so I made facsimilies out of plywood coated with epoxy resin.
    Close enough for me.

'bakelite'; I don't know about painting it but it might be possible to refresh the bakelite finish. I will see if I can find anything on that.

From Anglia Obsolete: "Passenger side Bakelite received a restoration, using various grades of wet-n-dry sand paper, followed by two coats of Tungoil. Ready to install."

TFF I have all of mine( front and rear) thank goodness. I sold the dash several years ago. Thanks for the tip on the acrylic lacquer. I am to assume that you used a lacquer based primer as well? ( kinda like the old 131 Dupont)?

  5. Thats it, wet & dry. Careful with how you hold onto it while sanding. It might just break

My go to for sealing and prepping "weird" parts, problems, and emergency screw-ups, is SEM flexible primer surfacer. It dries fast, has great adhesion, holds out solvent penetration very well, fills great for a spray can, and sands nice wet or dry. You can paint over it with most finishes. Shake it VERY WELL. I keep a couple cans on hand for a variety of small projects and quick fixes. It is available in quarts and gallons.

Hydro dip them. Perfect finish, holds up to a lot of wear and tear.

    Warning, killjoy alert!

Be very careful with that stuff, it's carcinogenic. I'd imagine it'd be any dust. Mask up accordingly.

Edit. Not carcinogenic, just contains asbestos! Message unchanged!

Yes, old school, not epoxy, although that may work too, as well as overspray's suggestions.

IMG_2978.jpeg Well here is the first pair. Worked pretty good other than one mosquito that wouldn’t bug off. Two coats later sealed her fate. Lead to one run no matter on underside edge and the window felt will cover it.
    Two down two to go.

Used plastic epoxy weld (uses a small torch) and fixed the one cracked rear quarter window trim. I’ll let it sit over night and then paint. I picked up some trash on the bottom of the trim for the rear doors when I painted. Not an issue I put 3 coats and it’s on the bottom.
I’ll buff it out if it needs.

All painted now. Let them sit a cure. Not perfect but then again nothing else on this car is either. IMG_3003.jpeg IMG_3004.jpeg
