Okay, while I would love to say that I finally have a real '49 Ford and that it's ready for paint...I actually just have a 1/25th ERTL model that I'm building up. What I want to do is grab a real can of flat black primer and use it on the plastic body. Will that work okay? Also, if I wanted to give the body a hint of patina...you know, make it look a little weathered...what would you guys suggest I do? -Taylor
The Automotive Primer will work. A wash is a good way to add "Weather". There was a Patina article in......Hot Rod or Rod & Custom. Try searching their websites. Also..... http://www.finescale.com Fine Scale Modeler magazine
Just use any spray paint you want. Even the cheap stuf at Wallyworld, they do have flat black paint and primer. Models don't get exsposed to the elements, so they don't fade as easy.
hit the bottom coat with a different color. a lite green or maroon might look good. and go over that with the black primer. and then wet sand it with a real fine grit in spots to give it that look ya want. and wa-laaa....
I was wondering if that idea would work. That's kind of what I was envisioning in my mind, but wasn't sure if I could do that. Thanks! -Taylor
