i have a friend that works at a body shop doing normal insurance, fender benders, totals, that sort of thing. he's been telling me about the new panel adhisives and unbelievbly strong they are. would it work for custom work or are we better off with the tried and true welder? sorry for the misspellings.
There was a rather lenghty post on here in the last year regarding this. Think there was opinions both ways. Would not use on any part needs structural strength but think patch panels, etc ok as long as not in area of body mounts, door hinges etc etc
It works well for joining flange type joints. As far as exposed seems, like a patch panel, on an exterior body panel. No I wouldn't use it. I used it last week to attach a new piece of metal around the top of the cab, where the top bolts on. (33 ford p/u chopped 5&1/2") It worked great, and made for a very clean chop.
I had a 65 Dakota that had the left bed side replaced and was "glued" on. It worked well. The advantage of glued panels is where you can not paint where a welded area is, If you can not get paint on a welded area, then that is where the rust will start to form. Jim
