    Tinman, paint a better picture for me brother! I was hoping it would have a distinctive sound, I wanted to make a set of zoomies. Well I guess it is better to know now,......still can't wait to hear it.

    Going to try and get it running, I have no idea when it was last run, plates on the car were 1963.

    The 1937 Packard six came with either a Carter or a Chandler-Grove carburetor. The Carter was a decent carburetor. The Chandler-Grove, well, the best thing I can say about the Chandler-Grove is that if you were building an original show car that you didn't plan to start, you would not be docked points for having a Chandler-Grove on the engine!

    Both Carter and Stromberg in 1941 offered replacement units for the six that were sold through Packard dealerships. Either the 1941 Carter or Stromberg would be an improvement over the 1937 Carter or the difference from night to day over the 1937 Chander-Grove.

    As others have mentioned, one could fabricate either a double or triple manifold (depending on port configuaration) and a set of headers and significantly improve the breathing capability of the engine.

    I'll have to respectfully disagree. The Packard 6-cyls are cast iron, just like most others.

    Yes, the Packard 6-cyls are plenty stout to take turbo boost. The good thing about a turbo is the OEM intake, exhaust manifolds and cylinder head can be retained.

    X3. One of the best looking 50's era V-8s imo, especially with the chromed script valve covers.

    Hey, 1twisted1;

    I forgot to add, that when doing a turbo on these old, neat, mills; the trick is to avoid hi-rpm/low boost, & instead use hi-boost/low-rpm. Read: OEM red-line(s). & also check into the squish, as you'll want/need it tight, to get things to work well. + good ignition control. Hope this works out well for you.
