I bought this when I was building my '39 Chevy truck. It was too cool to let go with the project when it sold. I re-found it in an old box of parts this weekend. Any idea what it's from? I'm guessing the copper plating isn't stock---plated for cosmetics? I'm probably going to sell it, but have always wondered what its history was. Appreciate any help!
Sorry for the extra posts. Haven't been on the HAMB in years and have forgotten the basics. I was trying to use the gallery thing but not doing something right...
I think it's a Canadian thing, that's where the Master name shows up the most. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/227132367468?
It rather makes you wonder if they were a GM parts department item that could be installed in many different brands. Up into the 50's a lot of lower price range cars and trucks were shipped to the dealer without heaters or much else to keep the base sticker price down.. Then the sales person asked what heater you wanted put in it at the time of the sale. Over the past 53 years of having and working on my 48 I have looked under hundreds of AD truck dashes and there can be a mix match batch of heaters in them. Here in Washingon most have the Deluxe fresh air heater or the smaller recirculating heater but when I was living in Texas and hunting parts for my 48 in the 70's you would find trucks that never had a heater and trucks that obviously had what ever was available that fit the day the owner decided that he needed a heater afterall. I found two of those GM Master heaters on line and they may have been reasonably common. Nice looking heater case for an old hot rod.
