    Would someone happen to have a part # for a short oil filter for a sbf? Putting a 302 in my shoebox and am having a small clearance issue. Thanks

    Don't have the part number but the application is MOPAR. Shorter than a standard FL1 filter but an inch or so.

    You have two other alternatives to running a shorter, potentially less effective filter.

    Get the 90* Motorsports adapter & swing your filter to wherever you have the best clearance.

    If that doesn't work, run a remote filter.

    Somehow I doubt that the clerk at Walmart will be able to tell me which one I need. But, where can I get one of those 90* adapters if it comes to that?

    FL1A = 5 9/32"
    FL300 = 4 11/32"
    FL842 = 3 31/32"

    I had to run a smaller filter on my 302 in my Fairmont to clear my downpipe. I am using the FL842 on a factory Ford 90* adapter. The adapter is PN M-6880-A50.

    Standard lenth (FRAM #s) is PH-8A, shorter(usually used on Mopars) is PH-43, shorter still is PH-16. The PH-16 is shorter than the catalog equivelent from Motorcraft or Wix. The 90 deg. adaptor is 55$ new from Ford Motorsports, can be used on Mopar, & Mopar Performance wants something like 125$!

    there is a marine filter ( fits volvo, mercruiser etc. ) that is less than 2" tall.. the part number escapes me, but your local napa counter man (not kid) can look in the book and find it for you.. the ford uses the most common thread / gasket size in the world.. heck, even some ferrari spin on filters use the same base !
    used the shorty to solve clearance issues several times.. just change your oil more often to make up for less filter area..
    good luck
