It would definitely be cheaper in the long run for sure.

The X-pert speedometer is an early Elgin bicycle part and very saught-after, especially in as nice of condition as that one is in. If it's got the cable and drive I would think that'd be worth like $300 to the right guy maybe.

    WTF really,

I know this won't be popular, but I find it very difficult to focus on the parts when I'm so distracted by your AVATAR.

If it will help the widow out, I'll offer her $200 for the 6-71. I think it's probably worth that as a core. I don't need it and my wife will kill me. So, it' probably be for sale shortly for $100.

    :p

[IMG][IMG]Didn't see anyone mention this was a 1937-40 Ford V8-60 Tube front end. Never saw that style end on the split wishbone. Bob

I was looking at that too. Very unusual. You asked if this axle would be good for yourA-V8 build. The answer is definitely. They look awesome chromed. That one if not pitted could easily fetch 600 bucks. Very desirable for an early hotrod. Like mine IMG_0502.JPG IMG_0503.JPG

I asked someone if this is something I would want for my AV8 build and they said no since I want to lower my car.

Not all hotrods were low to the ground. Man, You are missing out on a golden opportunity with that axle. I would still by it. If you could buy it for 300 bucks I would stick in the rafters like right now and forget about it.

You can fix that with raised cross member and fewer leaves if you know what you are doing.

    where did you acquire it?
can we get a front view of it?

It looks like there MAY be reading material above the waist line.. ?

Hi I looked at the front end again yesterday. The spring is in front of the axel. Would that not move my wheels back to far?

Lots of guys use the later axles in their early cars with the stock wishbones. You will need to buy a longer than original main leaf, and use the rest of your original spring pack. I think Posies sells this main leaf. You might also need to rework your tie rod length, as well as other small modifications.

So what your saying is I would only be using the axel? Everything else would be my 30 stuff? Well besides a longer spring?

Yep. It's just for style, there is no improvement in any other way.
