Ok, for context the rear ¼ windows on my 39 have the same vent feature found in 34 front doors. Once rolled up, keep rolling and they move back a cpl inches as a vent feature. In my reading it seems the same mechanical gig that was used on a 34 3W is what was used on my rear windows. I'd like some actual hands-on experienced input. Trying to source for the 39 is "out of stock" everywhere. One source lists the same part for 34 and for 37-39. Which twin has the Toni? Is it the same? Thanks in advance. Spoiler alert, I ordered the 34s and will have em at week's end. If they're the same I'll be posting pics and info. I'm just impatient and was looking for inputs. Thanks again...
Heh, nobody. Well, the United Pacific window channels were listed in another site as 1934-40. They're not. They're coupe door channels and while close, no cigar, not even 2nd hand smoke. So I went on another "no fuckin way..." search. Of all places Ecklers had the 1 I needed. Only the 1 side, passenger or right. Outta stock on the driver's side like everybody else's but they're all outta both. The good news? They were closing out the driver's side for $13.20 (!) so 20 bucks all in with the ride. The pair (wrong ones) were $138 shipped. Of course returned now so a moot point except Ecklers has like 3 or 4 more. If you need it get it. 34 thru 40 according to all copied Ford part #s. Mine of course is a 39 tudor. I'll zap a cpl pics and show how it all worked out. I said I'd share what I learned so enjoy this item.from the FWIW dept. Pics later...
I'd heard there was some interchange for window regulators between '34 and later cars but I thought the matchup was '34 door and 35/36 Tudor quarter window. When you say "channels", are you talking about the sash that the bottom of the glass sits in, or the felt lined surrounds that go in the top/sides of the window opening? Now I'm kinda curious. If it's a closeout and they're not going to make any more, I'm wondering if these closeouts are something I should buy preemptively for my '34 coupe project.
34 tudor and 35 to 40 tudor rear window regulators interchange. Doubtfully the channels interchange because of window shapes & sizes. I've seen many of the reproduction channels not be correct for the kickback feature. If you set them up to go through up & down motion you can see if the bottom bracket and the screw in pin in the channels are in the right place. This link will explain what I'm talking about. https://www.34ford.com/dbutcher/34ford.html#WINDOW_REGULATOR
Well it's later. To clarify, yes for the actual glass/sash/riser, which I've seen all this called on various sites. The channel that you tape the glass into. Pics... This was my problem The new part.. I did have to change it up a bit. I marked the glass where it was in the original channels. In order to be there (one side or the other) I had to lop off a little bit. The other end comes up short just that much, a bit over 1" My mark on the glass will be 34mm from the channel edge. Means nothing, no consequence. When this all goes together and back in I'll have it in my build thread as well as a separate topic. It seems there's always someone who ends up on WTF Blvd when it comes to removing these ¼ windows. I did too, took the scenic drive on WTF Blvd. Included will be all the felts, side fuzzies and channels. Quick edit, that's not a bad write up on the 34 stuff. On our 34 3W and my 39 tudor ¼ windows you'd roll the window up,and for the vent feature keep cranking it up and it slides back for ventilation. On my tudor front windows they go back 1st to vent then continue down as normal once back. Funny anecdote, someone was showing me his "Tommy Gun windows" on his 37 tudor. I thought yeah if it's bullet proof glass "So gangsters and cops could shoot without putting the windows down!" I didn't ha e the heart to say anything except, "Yeah, kool." Anyways...
The United Pacific parts are for 34 cpe doors. This whole gig is tudor rear glass. I'm learning that even as desired as these Tudors are they seem to be a new parts step child in many ways.
