How do you hoodlums feel about sending a long time ride down the road? I have been following along on the recent thread about the 41 coupe. I had one for 23 years and had to sell it to get my bucket list car. I’m very conflicted sometimes. Snowman ⛄️

Regret selling every one of them. Even though I had to sell some to get the money to finish the others. I want all of them back! Lol

  3. I sold my long time daily last year. I see it all the time cruising around. Guy has took it out of state a couple times and drives the crap out of it. That makes me smile.
I’m ok with it being gone. I’ll even probably be involved with upgrades on it.
    I’ll build another truck.

As long as I'm getting something new it doesn't bother me, but I don't sell um to friends.... And as un local as possible so I don't have to see someone else driving my car!

Similar situation. It’s about a mile away. He positively loves it. Have only seen once tho. Snowman ⛄️

  7. My old truck was his bucket list truck.
I’m glad it has a owner that digs it even more than I did

My machinist sold his 55 Chevy, big block 4 speed car. Stupid money, it was hard not to sell it for the price he was offered. But now the guy that bought it stops by in it all the time. Jamie said i wish he didn't live so damn close to me lol

I am not auto monogamous. When I am done, I am done. I get excited about the next one. Are there some I would like to have back? Yes but I have enjoyed every new one after they were gone. Getting ready to send another one along in next month's auction.

  10. 20190213_154012.jpg I had my 36 Tudor for 25 years, we moved to a house on an unpaved road and the black Ford just languished in the garage. In '18 I put it up for sale (broke even money wise) and it went down the line to a fella in San Jose, we kept in touch and then he informed me he had some health issues and sold it to a fella in Morgan Hill, Ca. If he would have let me know I would have probably bought it back, it was a foolish knee jerk mistake to let it go. So if anyone knows of a black 36 Ford Tudor, SBC, Muncie, red grille & wheels with 55 Ford caps and rings. I'll never let my '36 Chevy p'up go, had it going on 44 years, that one's a keeper. I've owned and built maybe 25 cars in all my years of hot rodding. I have always built them as though I
planned on keeping them forever. But the truth is, that day for them to move on always comes. I know it
will, and I know when it happens, and have never had any regrets. I loved them all, still do, but never cared to
get one back. And, I'm always looking for the next project. As time goes by, it's nice to see a car
and say, "Yep, I had one of those...." To me, that's the fun of all hot rods.

  12. I thought I might feel bad about selling my 56 Chevy that I had for 35 years but its been two years and I still haven't missed it. I guess I never was in love with it. Plus I still have five old hambmobiles to play with.

When I've sold them, they've been a day or more drive away to the new owner, which is perfect! I don't want to see them in case I made a bad decision! lol I sold a Small Diesel 4x4 tractor recently and he keeps calling.... wish I'd sold it out of state! lol

  14. As @Moriarity says, selling only leads to future regret. I don’t sell much…

I read thru this thread to understand how anyone could sell a car after spending years of working on it. And I have bought cars with the intent to repair and sell but I keep MY cars. I have the 1947 Mercury that I bought in 1967 and all the rest too including grandpas 1937 Ford.

i recently sold the 37 pictured as my avatar, had it over 30 years, just didn't drive it, bought a very nice 50 fastback, less money sitting in the garage now so i don't feel so bad about not getting behind the wheel 50-30.jpg

Sold my '65 Falcon 2 dr. wagon to a guy I worked with when I got drafted since I "knew" I would be going overseas. Built 289, T-10, etc. Came home on leave and found out he side swiped a power pole. Turns out I got orders for a weapons depot in NorCal. Turns out I could have kept the car after all. That was over 50 years ago so I guess I should let it go.

  21. I know that I STILL have remorse over selling my roadster.
Way more than all the others, come and gone.

Geez, get over it! You bitched about the sun and put a top on it and dealt with the skin cancer, bitched about the cold and rain but kept driving in it, bitched about the pain from long miles in cramped spaces but kept getting back in it, bitched about the small issues that were set aside since it was still running, bitched about how you wanted to do it over but didn’t have the money............

So why are you even CONTEMPLATING another one??!!

‘cause those morning chingos with the cool air and the sun coming up, your pals strung out with you on a two lane road, the pride of making something out of scrap, and driving it for 32 years does something to ya.

It becomes a part of your being and existence. Kinda like a long marriage.

I’ve sold off three in the past eight years. I miss them all, but I don’t have the room to keep them all indoors like they deserve. My ‘31 Tudor and my ‘56 Chevy are local but I never see them. My F100 went to Washington or someplace, so it’s gone.
I would probably buy them back given the chance. I was offered a chance to buy back my Tudor but it was bad timing financially, so I missed out. The current owner won’t sell.

Some years ago I sold a car I'd owned for almost 45 years. My friends and family were more upset about it than I was, and they all told me I'd regret it. But it was just time to let it go and I had projects I wanted to move on with instead. I had done everything I could to the car from rebuilding all the drivetrain and suspension; new interior, and paint, and nothing left to do. The thing that really pushed the decision over the top for me was it was too nice to enjoy, and at a car event just two weeks after getting it painted I came back to the car to leave and found a 4" long scratch in the driver's door. It looked like someone stuck their upper body inside to look and their belt buckle had scratched the clear coat. I took it back to the painter, and he repainted the door, and I immediately put it up for sale. Can't say I don't miss it at all, but I don't regret selling it.

Will list the Zipper (avatar) and the '29 CCPU sometime next month. Had both cars for over 20 years. Reasons for selling quite simply is that at 81, it's difficult to get in and out of either car and quite frankly, my reaction times aren't what the used to be. Too, dealing with traffic isn't any fun. Sad to see them go, but I'm sure someone will make the changes to make them their cars and have as much fun as I've had with them.

    Miss em all.
Truth tho, Pops raised a consumer.
They are all better off with some one else.
The one I can't ever see go is way in back. My A coupe

Can't say I regret selling any of my cars, but there are a few I'd like to have back. That probably won't happen though because they have gone from 10 to 20 year old used cars to "classics". Some went to finance the next "apple of my eye" and two went for seed money to build my house.
