Not really a joiner but the least I can do since I hope to get "steal" some knowledge from here. Been lurking for awhile, don't know if I will have questions or will just lurk.

South central PA, former Marylander. Just got my dad's Model A (1931, 5 window) to my house. I don't plan to do much to it right away but will have to basically start and go from the ground up. I know it has a Falcon 289/automatic in it with a ford rear end ("All Ford, all steel" is how my dad descirbed the car). I think the steering column may be from an ****** (he worked with what he had). I do need to swap it out for something else (don't want a key and lock on the column) -- would like to switch it sooner than later as I do not have the key. Mustang II front end under it (if I recall correctly -- I didn't listen enough when I was younger). Gauges are mid 80's garbage and will also need to be changed.

Want to build it safe, build it drive, and build it right. Not sure how much it will be traditional, I suspect it will have some of both. Hopefully I can find out what I need here without ruffling feathers. Not interested in drama or conflict, just information and experience.

I could say more but this is already pretty stupid.

Looks like you have the right intentions and you came to the right place. Welcome from So. MD.

  3. Junkle, welcome from Kansas City...wondering if your last line "I could say more but this is already pretty stupid." Are you inplying the introduction rule is stupid or did I mis-understand something?

If I implied anything it was error not intentional. I may not be a big fan of introductions, but I understand the purpose of it from an admin and board perspective.

What I meant is that I always feel stupid when I am using "I" and "me" a lot. Of all of the people I know I am the least interesting and talking about myself seems a waste of time.

    Hopefully that made more sense,

  8. 4oldfords, LOL...I remember that from SNL

Junkle, do you happen to have any pics of your '31 to share...If the 'I' and 'me' seems odd, try 3rd person...now that's weird.

Hello from Texas. I like that you have your old man's "A". That's interesting enough.

If I did this right there should be 3 images. I do want to say that this paint job was meant as a joke but I guess the joke ended up being on my dad (the paint job outlived him). It was 2 tone red body (Med red high metallic fading to darker red high metallic) with dark (nearly black) fenders.

As you can see I have a lot of work to do.

Welcome from Virginia. A Ford in a Ford, you can't beat that.

  12. Welcome. It looks like a pretty good starting place, despite the
    "unique" paint job.:D
