Thanks for the update Cole! Still gunna keep Pat in our thoughts and prayers.........SOB dont need it but call it an Insurance policy! Chase Susan around the backyard when you get home.
Wow! I am SO stoked for you guys right now. Im hopin your ol man gats many more years, and maybe he will slow down and smell the roses so to speak. He seems like a workaholic. Anyway i am very happy for youall. Jim
(He drove built, towed, tuned, crashed, burned top fuel cars, hes is a bad muther fucker" so far so good.) How FN cool IS that...! Thank for keeping everone posted & Hang tuff.
Knew he was tough enough to beat that, Good for you Pat. Glad to hear it Cole. Tell him, he's not done yet. Max.
Cole. Good to hear that your pops is coming along. There are very few in this world that could be in the BMF'r catagory. Your dad is and you Cole, are right there with him. Looks like the apple didn't fall to far from the tree. KNUX!
Cole, Seems way to often when my phone rings and I pick it up, first thing I hear is "did you hear about"? At that point, I say "no", and hang up. It's usually about another close friend who's sick. But when it was about your dad, that was the straw that broke the camels back. I owe so much to Pat. When I got here he took me around to meet everyone in CA: Woody Gilmore, Don Long, Don Kirby, Steve Pleuger..... Pat had so much respect from these guys that just walking into their shops with him, gave me instant credibility. Something I couldn't have gotten on my own. The stroke I had killed my left side, but I'm almost all the way back. Something helped me a lot.............so let's all say a prayer for Pat. Uncle John
Get well Pat! Glad to know he's back "In the Saddle" again. Hope your holding up well too Cole?, I'm sure there were alot of sleepless nights for you. All best to and your family and God Bless. Ken
Glad to hear your dad's doing better Cole, you too John. Been wondering about you two lately, good to get the updates. Lots of respect and best wishes to all of you from my family.
Awesome news on your pops Cole. It was really cool to talk too you at scottsdale show. take him for a ride in the 36 and all will be right with world again.
Cole, I'm sure your dad is just as proud, if not more, as he is of how you developed with your hands as he is with how you've handled this.
Lil John - get well soon yourself! Sure don't want to hear any more bad news on the circuit! Pat's 68th birthday is coming up February 4th - please send him cards and letters to bring his spirits up. He would greatly enjoy that. We will be with him Sunday the 3rd and Monday the 4th and will report how he's doing. His address for now is: Patrick Foster c/o Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital room 403 600 North Cecil Post Falls, ID 83854 Seriously he will need all the support he can get for awhile! It was really tough for us to watch Cole and Dan load up Pat's shop and head to CA - another page in Patty's life has begun, but he will be where he needs to be - with family.
Glad he is doing better!! Played phone tag with Cole a few times, (we never did get in touch with each other) wanted to take him out for dinner or something to get his mind off things for a few hours! But appharently he is back in Cali?? Tell Pat we are all "rootong" for him, and I'll send off a card....Take care, Ken
Ken - thanks a bunch for stopping by and seeing Patty. He told us you had. Dana Winters and Herman came by Sunday while we were there. Yeah Cole and Dan went back to CA a week ago today and won't be back for a week? As soon as they can, that's a bet. We spent Saturday and Sunday with Pat and ran back up today just to tell him Happy Birthday. He is really weak but can speak with the trache tube adjusted. He talks a little for about 20-30 minutes and then is tired again. He is only awake for an hour or so at a time and that's good - it gives his body healing time and he is not awake and worrying about stuff that isn't working anymore. This is the toughest competition that he has faced and he said he wants to fight. So fight it is! Currently he is at Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls, but it sounded like today that he will be transferred to Spokane to yet another hospital and rehab place in the next couple of days. As soon as we find out we'll be sure to post his new address so folks can send cards and letters. He REALLY appreciates them! We will get him online as soon as he is able (maybe weeks or months). We nearly filled 2 books with cards and e-mails for him! -Annette
Another day of set backs yesterday for Pat - respiratory and other issues creeped up on little cat toes and postponed his transfer to rehab He would love to have cards of support! Patrick Foster c/o Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital 600 N. Cecil Post Falls, ID 83854 Thanks for keeping him and his family in your prayers and thoughts! - Annette
Spent the day with Pat today - he is in ICU room 423 at the Advanced Care Hospital. It sucked to see him on the ventilator again and not be able to speak. Jim from Spokane - he got your card today and thanks! He has a card from Lil John taped to his wall along with family pics. Several of the recent cards mentioned that they were from members of the HAMB so Thanks! He appreciates them very much! Some he reads and others we read to him when he's really tired. When the nurses bring him the mail he really perks up - don't know if it's the mail or the nurses. There has to be some kind of communication with the outside world - his whole life is upside down right now and all we can do is try to brighten his day. Keep those cards and letters coming! -Annette
I'm a friend writing for Lil' John to Pat .. Lil' John wants you to know that he hopes you get well soon and he is thinking of you and wants to say, "hi". He said he loves you and you are his favorite person. And now he says, "Quit trying to 'one-up' him again" He says as soon as there is a phone number, he'll call ..
We'll be sure to pass the word on to Pat from lil John. I spoke with his sister today and she said guess who wants to talk to you? and all of a sudden I heard a raspy old familiar voice say "hello love" and my heart just about stopped! He is off the ventilator for now and has learned to speak without the trache tube being capped. They removed the vent yesterday. He is once again in tough physical therapy during the week but he hopes to be out in the sunshine soon. Steve and Cindy Gibbs have been there for a couple of days visiting with him. I am SO glad he is able to speak with them! He doesn't have a phone in his room yet and a friend of ours purchased a laptop computer so we are going to see what we can do to get him wired up in the coming weeks. He is still not out of the woods yet due to lung issues that keep creeping up on him but each time he improves he stays stable for much longer. Very hopeful. -Annette
I too got to hear those "hello Love" words today on the phone with Foster , as I say the skies parted and the sun shined through. I can't wait to hear them over and over again. Keep the positive energy flowing. And thanx Cole and aunt linda for making my day. Love you guys hang in there. Leigh (Buttera) Capps
The same Leigh who made the ubercool poster of a hug for Patty? We are headed up again this Saturday. I know he had a very tiny set back again Tuesday but should be back and fighting again today. Keep the cards and pictures coming guys! He needs every ounce of strength he can gather from his family and friends and is having a tough time with some harsh reality right now...
WOW Finally some good news! Hoping this is the case. From nhra.com http://www.nhra.com/insidedragster.asp "Patty bounced back miraculously, is doing physical therapy Monday through Friday, and, although it looks like he'll be in a wheelchair from here out, is on the road to recovery." The link has alot more info with quotes from Cole.
