I've got an old Offy bellhousing/adaptor on the back of my 322 Nailhead, which leaves the flywheel totally exposed under the car. Were these adaptors designed to use the stock Buick dust cover? Anyone got one? Or do i have to fab something up? Thanks
The one I had didn't take a dust cover. I have a stock set up with the dust cover, and adapter plate to chevy trans.
Mine's a full-on Offy bellhousing that bolts up to an earlier Ford toploader four speed. The whole bottom of the flywheel is sticking out.
I'm just thinking I'll get more miles out of it if it's all*****oned up. What are you running for clutch linkage? Mechanical or hydraulic? That bellhousing doesn't leave much room ahead of the clutch fork.
I'm using mechanical linkage. I used a combination of the ford and buick forks. The buick one was real long so I welded it to the ford one which gives me plenty of clearence. It seems like it's gonna work......its basicly set up like the stock buick was. I even used the buick linkage and modified it to fit.
I'm a little short on room, so I'm running swing pedals and a puller type clutch cylinder behind the clutch fork. Which trans are you running?
I am using a 63ish Ford 3 speed. I wanted a T 10, but couldn't find one cheap so this will do for now.
I've got an Offy bellhousing that is for a 401 and takes an early Ford Trans. I wanted to use a GM style trans and wondered what adapter you found for going to Chevy trans.
