I can't help but wondering how many amps it could handle(for how long) and if it got overheated if it would affect the contact pressure leading to premature failure.

    Cool nonetheless.

You should be proud of your Gramps, both for his accomplishments and his take on life. Met quite a older folks with the same work ethic. My Mom asked me once, "Do you ever relax?" My reply was," Yep, just before I go to sleep." Finding that as I grow older I tend to relax more!

The shadowbox idea is cool but I'd bet that if your Grandfather was still around he would tell you to use it on the Hot Rod.

That is incredible! Great story...And I, too, loved the art work attached to the patent...Every time I come across something unique like this, it reminds why I love the HAMB so much!!! Thanks for posting this!

My son and his wife both work as patent examiners at the US Patent Office in DC. I sent them this because I know they mostly get to deal with the new high tech stuff. I think they will enjoy the elegant simplicity of this patent.

Here's a patent by my Grandfather. It's a DA sander. He worked at Sioux Tools. Anybody still have any Sioux Tools in their shop?

It would be cool to incorporate it into the build....perhaps a headlight switch? A brakelight switch? Starter safety switch?

That shutoff switch is well thought-out. It even includes the grounding pole for the generator to keep it from running on the generator while disconnected from the battery. (Anti-Theft) But it will fry the wiring if the car was jumped when the switch was off! Pretty cool!

I havent been on here for awhile. Life happens, I guess. The Uncle that passed this down to me , passed a year ago. Went thru his garage recently and never did find the cover for this. He recalled having it and it had our last name on it. Wish I had it to complete the part.
