A friend of mine ask me today if I had any experience with engine kits from PAW. I do not so I thought I would turn here for feedback. How 'bout it, anyone got an opinion on PAW. Quality, Service, Availability?
    Thanks in advance,
    George

I ordered one from them about 15 yrs ago. it was a cheap Cast piston set for a 305. No name on the Pistons, Rings, or Bearings, they all came in plain white boxes.

Lasted for 2 yrs though, and last I knew the old Blazer was still running. You have to remember though, that was just a stock rebuild...

  4. i have bought several engine kits from them and never had a problem.i have a 350 chevy in my `28 ford tudor that was rebuilt in 1989 with a kit from them,8000 miles and no problems. another kit went into a 283 chevy that now has over 30,000 trouble free miles.the latest one was for the 283 chevy in my `36 ford.

their prices have always seamed fair and they shipped on time. one thing i would recogmend would be to upgrade the standard kit...go with the moly rings, high volume oil pump and the double roller timing chain.if you read the REALLY small print in the magazine ads you will see they are extra.

i'll be watching to see what others think of them....greg

I used them when I rebuilt my baby Buick engine,(try and get spares over here) they where polite and patient, they even let me send stuff back and sent the right stuff back with no surcharges. When I was stuck to know what i needed they took the time to talk to me so I got the right bits. I would recomend them to any one, also there catalogue makes good reading and can be used like a build manual.

I spent better than a half-hour of my time to relate positive dealings with PAW over a period of several decades, information that would have been valublable to HAMBers, but the board ****canned it.

Glad I spent the time . . . yeah, right

I used their kit to rebuild the 302 in my 82 Ford van about 4 years ago. I use that van to pull a 24' car trailer all over the country picking up **** I buy on ebay....I can't p*** up a deal even if it's 1000 miles away. The truck is still running great after more than 40,000 miles and it don't leak or use oil.

any common stuff, like for SBC's, i get from them. Used a few of their full rebuild kits- all without a problem. 'Course they have a retail store and a wherehouse within 5 miles of my house... so i can walk in and buy my parts, or ***** at them if need be (which ive never needed to)...

I used them for sbc and several early Pontiac V/8 builds. Once they shipped me 1958 Poncho forged pistons [370 cid] for my '60 389. The piston tops stuck up outa the bores! When I called 'em, they hemmed and hawed a bit for a couple weeks but they eventually came through. I got a feeling they prolly had bought a box car load of 370 forged pistons represented as 389 pistons...very cheap price on them.
They were also the only people I ever bought from that understood a h.p. small journal 327 chevy rod was called a "cloverleaf" rod and was stronger than other 327 and 283 rods. important when making a 301. Those rods usta sell from PAW for $76 a set, shotpeened and resized. Such a deal!
