Pay it Forward, HAMB "Auction" Brake Reference book

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tman, Feb 5, 2004.

  1. After all the questions I have seen about brake systems, I thought this would be a good item. I happen to have a Brake interchange book that handles cars and trucks(light and Med duty)WAGNER #S. This has all of the info you would need to design your brake system properly. This book is not worth money in my eyes, I can get a copy from my parts guys at will. But it seems it is unobtanium for many! Here is the deal, I will put this up for auction to the HAMB IN BARTER. This is a good reference material. I dont want money for the HAMB or my self.

The winning bidder will have a cool reference book, Interchange, or collection of tech info to RE-AUCTION to the HAMB. Myself, Ryan and the HAMB DRAGS FOOD CREW get to pick the winner based on technical merit. Bought books will count, ie: AV8s book, yet things like old shop manuals, Hollanders, Machinist manuals etc.......are even better...lets get creative here. I would like to see the circle of knowledge keep going!@%^&@#!

A recap, you get the brake book if you have another cool reference manual, I will then restart the auction with your winning book. I hope to keep this going for a while. Try to find those cool old shop reference manuals, machinist manuaks etc!

There is no money on the block here, we are just auctioning information based on the merit of the info itself!!!!

Does the Hokey Ass Cookbook count as tech? [IMG]

  7. No Zeke, You get to judge

  8. Does it include the specs for drums and rotors? If not can you get that book? I have some hardback Chiltons but I think they are for later model. Sorry I dont part with the oldies unless I have doubles. Also lots of engine parts catalogs, good for referencing old stock parts, like pistons, rings, timing sets, etc. A must have for the swap meet shopper.. and they have all the specs and measurements. If someone really really wants it (maybe if this continues as planned.. I want Hollanders) I have a Holley applications guide, a really fat book that lists all the apps for Holleys by #.

  9. Trent, I've got an a mid 50's auto body book, hardbound. I'll get the title when I get home tonight. This would be a cool as "traditional" as it get's reference manual. Chapters on lead and all the other ways bodywork was done back in the "day".

I've got a couple of Pratt & Whitney shop manuals for WWII airplane engines, does that count?

  11. Okay, Title of the book is: 'Automotive collision work, including refinishing'. Printed by the American Technical Society, copyright for this edition 1959, but originally published in 1953. Really some cool info in it on bodywork done the old school way. In the estimate section it list a regular automechanic as a $1.50/hour. Dang [IMG]

Don't give up, yet! I'll "bid" a 1962 Pontiac factory shop manual, a Hot Rod Deluxe #1 and a Car Kulture Deluxe #1. The Pontiac manual is an old library copy that has been checked out many times and has seen ALOT of garage time! In other words, it is a very used copy. The two magazines are new, though! nothin' more old school than this bid, 1st edition Machinery's Handbook, not perfect but all there. Commonly improperly refered to as the Machinist Handbook. Lets see if anyone beats this. [IMG]

How about Automotive Body and Fender Repairs by C.E. Packer, 1945. Leather bound, in very good condition.
Perhaps you to need to hone up on your tinning and soldering skills.
