hey brothers, i got me one of those proffesional products polished aluminum intake manifolds for my 350 (yeah yeah, i know, boring! whatever!) problem is it does not have a hole for a pcv. where do i put it? somewhere in the back i am ***uming. what do i use that is not too expensive or gay looking? i am also installing an oil fill neck(breather) in front. any advice on that? by the way all this is because my edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers do not have holes in them and they never will! thanx v8custom
the early engines that had the PCV system connected to the back of the block, and the front of the intake, also have different p***ages inside. So, you won't get a good working PCV system just by drilling holes in the intake manifold.
One of the two has to go. Either drill pcv holes in the valve covers or get some that have them..or get and old type intake...engine has to breathe or it will blow oil everwhere....
Corvettes had a pcv valve in the filler tube , if you could find one at a swap meet it would work. or you could modify the filler tube you have. Carlg
Look at an early block, they have a tube cast in at the front that connects the oil filler tube in the intake, with the front timing cover area...and also another p***age at the back of the block BEHIND the intake, that connects the draft tube/pcv with an oil separator in the valley. The newer 350 type blocks don't have this stuff, they are designed to have the PCV valve in one valve cover, and a breather in the other valve cover. Do a search on the hamb, a couple guys have come up with workable solutions....
Guys have drilled holes in the back of the manifold, not in the fuel runner but in an area over the lifter galley. That in conjucntion with the breather up front will work. Do a search, there was even a post with pics. Good luck
This was done a while back by Sticklifter. Besides being informative, the post itself was hilarious to read: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64338&highlight=screwdriver
