Is there any reason I cannot put a PCV valve in the intake side of my valve covers assuming of course it did not interfere with the rockers or pushrods? I've read dozens of threads on here and elsewhere and haven't seen this covered anywhere. As some of you know from my build thread I have a great deal of concern about altering my precious valve covers and would like to do as little damage as possible and not alter their appearance any more than necessary.

I would put a PCV in the rear of the right valve cover and a vent in the front of the left valve cover, same location. Obviously I would baffle both to keep as much oil as possible out of the system.

    Your thoughts gentlemen.......

Unless I’m missing something that’s the normal setup for most factory fit PCVs

I don’t think it really matters where it is as long as it’s in there with a baffle of some sorts

Is this for your build thread? If the block has the factory road draft tube hole, and your intake has an oil fill tube, then you don't need to ventilate through the valve covers. Yes, that's the best of the best method, but you can essentially replicate the early PCV system with the road draft tube hole and oil fill tube.

To answer above questions. Yes , this is for my build thread. The block is a later ( ' 71) version delete of the early draft tube provisions. The intake is a Weiand dual plane with no breather provisions.

The valve covers are the original chromed and painted ones off Jim Inglese "Full House" deuce. This car was just off the chain and I really hate to whack up a piece of hot rod history. When they were on the Full House Jim used some big Offy breathers cut into the lower sides of the covers. I believe from some folks I've talked to about this he had issues with oil out the breathers. This may well be a false or true, who knows. I haven't spoken to Jim in many years. It doesn't look like I will be able to fill oil through the Offy breathers although they are still available through Jegs and Summit. I think the Full House used a breather tube in the intake in addition to the side breathers.

I could try to run the side breathers and if they spew oil etc., I could block them off from behind or I could grab some cheap chrome tin covers with oil fill/ PCV provisions and put these back on the wall. They just look " so right" on there though. Down to details now and I'm hoping the HAMB can point me in the right direction. If you feel I shouldn't mess with Jims work please shout out as well. Plenty of pics on my build thread-

Being that it originally had the 90 degree Offy breathers.....you could add them back and do this:

If not running fuel pump , Vent off block off plate ,
There been a few Valve covers I did not want to drill , So I would add/change Oil threw Dipstick tube , One engine I did was a 8qt pan.
    If adding 90 deg breathers
Best to have on top of valve cover near carburetor.
Could drill rear China wall , pvc
Or drill (hole saw )back intake close to distributor so later add slug back weld in , same near front ,
    or
    Vent off oil pan

I drilled a hole in the back of the intake under the distributor and stuck a baffled grommet in there. I run dual quads and I plumbed the PCV to the rear vacuum port on the back carb, you can't even tell its's there.

After finally driving my car a long distance to Northwest Deuce Days, I can finally say that my pcv setup works. I use an electric fuel pump (SBC engine). I have a high perf mechanical fuel pump mounted on the engine which is a dummy that I gutted out. On the outlet side, I screwed in an inline pcv valve from a small Suzuki car and the inlet side is plugged. On the engine side of the fuel pump doghouse plate, I welded up a baffle. Everything is hidden in plain sight and no one sees it.

  14. I ran these valve covers for a year with the Offy's on the low side and did not have an issue with oil.

Just depends on how they where installed ( correct window opening )
& baffling design ,for oil drain back .
The taller less chance of filling up with oil , many newer not made like older ones ,
