If you have never been to Pebble Beach you can view the event as it is being Live Streamed on TV. Hope to be back there next year, Car Week has something for everyone. Bob
It looks like the live stream will be on YouTube, as in the past. Sign up here and they will email you the link on Sunday: https://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/events/watch-the-2024-pebble-beach-concours-delegance-live/
We went to the Monterey Historics for 20+ years starting with the 2nd one. It got too crowded to be fun. When we gave up our regular room in Carmel the lady called the next year to assure that we weren't coming. We went back a couple times when a friend was racing but a couple years ago a free room and tickets couldn't lure us back. We hit Pebble Beach every couple years arriving at 0 dark 30 to watch the cars move in. The last time we were there I think it was $20 and by 10 am you could barely move around. I'm amazed today that so many people are willing to plunk down BIG bucks to get jostled around in the crowds. Pebble Beach is $595 - $4,500 for the day. If you win a lottery spot to attend the Quail show expect to spent $1,000 - scalpers get up to 3 grand. Here is a list of things to do. If it's not marked free don't expect any change back from $100+.
There are guys that spend $1,000 on connecting rods, I'd rather look at the cars at Pebble Beach with a family member for the same money and priceless memories.
I can understand, but you only live once, walking the lawn at Pebble Beach should be done at least once by every car guy. Bob
Found this photo posted this morning. It was the Exotic Car display on Broadway. I doubt many people got to see an unobstructed view of any car. I'm certain when the family memory comes up it won't be about a car but the crowd of 70,000. The shot with the cars is from 2019 when they first moved the event to Seaside because the crowd was too big for Cannery Row - the crowds have gotten bigger in the past 5 years.
Watched some of it. Was really interesting with some very cool and expensive cars. Best of show was a really slick little pre war road race car complete with dirt under the fenders and all. Didn't see any type of Hot Rods this year or did I miss them? Time well spent with a look into another world.
I had picked two of the final four watching the Thursday Tour. There is going to be a LOT of talk about the Best of Show winner 2024. Watched the TV Live coverage start to finish. Being there is best, but having a kitchen & bathroom just steps away, and the saved expense, may allow me to buy another car project.
I picked the Packard and the Talbot Lago. The wedge sucked. I would have gone with the Talbot, the paint was incredible.
